Greetings. :) I am hoping someone knows if this bag style was ever created? I realize the creed isn't clear, but my first concern with this bag is I have never seen this style before.
Oh, and the two shade thing is explained as a piping re-store.
Thank you!

Description: Bonnie Cashin vintage bag
Comment: ok, after posting so many bag queries to you, i bid on one impulsively without checking it out first. does it look authentic? i sure hope so, but creed isn't that readable.

Authentic. One of the older Coach styles - it's called a "Courier Pouch".

That one was probably made in the late 1970's, since it doesn't appear to have a serial number. I'm not 100% positive of the Bonnie Cashin claim, though it could be, but I've never seen one with her label in it.

Other opinions are welcome!

;)

is the fact that it has no serial number ok? i thought all of the older bags at least had a glued number. that's what concerned me most. i'm not so worried if it's a "real Bonnie Cashin"

Having no serial number is fine. There was a short time, probably in the later 70's, when Coach used just the creed wording with no number under it. I believe the glued on numbers came next and then the actual number stamped directly onto the leather came after that.

OK, I went ahead and resized the pics. and attached. It was really hard to get a picture inside the small purse. It doesn't look that light and worn in real life. I also took a picture of the leather tag on the backpack. It is missing on the little purse. Thanks in advance!

Comment: Any red flags?

Were you the winner?

With such blurry pictures and so few pictures of the wallet, it's impossible to authenticate it. It's a style that is faked fairly well and generally, I am reluctant to authenticate wallets without many clear and definitive pictures of all markings and paperwork.

If you receive the wallet, please feel free to post additional pics.

Received today. Let me know if you need additional pictures.

Thanks.

The first one is a genuine Daypack made in 2000.

We need more info and photos of the second one - measurements, plus photos of the back of the bag and one of the front with the flap open so we can see what's under the flap. Also, what is the bottom line of the creed stamp where it says where the bag was made?

Thanks!

It looks ok to me, but a btter photo of the creed stamp would help.

Unless you've been following and buying Coach for 40 years, there are going to be styles you haven't seen before. This one looks like a genuine Plaza Bag from the late 80s or early 90s. It's hard to say if it's the standard or the large version but probably the standard.

Piping replacements weren't uncommon, the piping may have been replaced by Coach.

Thank you so much Hyacinth!
I did ask her for a clear photo of the creed, nothing yet, but she seems to be in a hurry in all her listings. I love the bottom curve, like a child of city and court. I could have been buying coach for the last 40 years, but strangely enough I only found out this year how amazing they are for me, and by sheer accident. Your vast information on vintage, and simply older bags, is wonderful. I have been reading all the back posts in this thread and elsewhere on this forum.
I probably need coach catalogs from 1980-2005 (that seems to be what draws me) but I can't seem to get most of those links, like the drill-down, to work for me. I have docs that I am building about the styles I am interested in, but that doesn't help when I don't know what it is.

Thank you again!

It's really hard to find older catalogs, even on Ebay, and actually there weren't a lot of styles available until the original owners sold Coach in the mid-1980s. The new owners (Sara Lee) expanded the inventory every year afterwards.

Some of the information scattered around these forums have been concentrated by Salearea at the Reviews and Guides section at Ebay. You may want to check them out if you haven't already done so.

(The old drilldown link no longer works, BTW)

Your bag looks good but you have to be patient. The authenticaters do have lives outside of tpf

I'm very aware of that and respect that, but they replied to everyone who posted after me. Either they overlooked me accidentally, don't want to help me, or I managed to post a bag none of them are familiar with, which given their amazing expertise on all things Coach, I doubt is possible. :smile1:

Thank you for your reply!
