Thank you for posting this!!! I really feel that my bag is authentic, but I wanted to have confirmation from the experts for peace of mind :D It denfinitely helps to see another bag of the same line to compare details, and I can see that some of them are the same (hardware, lining texture, even the creed reads the same). Thanks again for the link!

My pleasure! I think that you are probably correct in that your bag (see post 10873) came from the Sheridan collection. I just found similar non-white, Sheridan bags on ebay. Again, I'm no expert so hopefully one of our expert authenticators will be able to confirm our suspicions.

Did you have any luck removing the ink mark? I've always stayed away from light-colored bags for my rehab projects because they are often very soiled and I know that they will difficult hard to clean; but your bag looks to be in excellent condition for a thrift store find. I would have grabbed it immediately if I had come across it, a very lucky find!

It is in really great condition, save for that one small black scuff and some very minor wear to the bottom piping (just a hint of color loss), I plan on trying your alcohol tip, but as it turns out , we don't have any in the house ! (At least not of the rubbing variety :D). I plan on picking some up on my next shopping trip and will let you know if it works! My only concern about it is the possibility of it taking off some of the bag color with it, have you had this happen before, or did it just take off the intended mark?

Something about this auction doesn't feel right -

Item: Coach Signature Denim Carly with Matching Wallet 12197
Number: 320645599252
Seller: lisha1245
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEBIDX:IT&autorefresh=true#ht_9212wt_1139

Does a seller know what my automatic bid max amount is? The history of the bidding for this makes me feel like the seller is arranging to run the price up - and that the auction price now is my current max.

I'd love come comments in addition to authenticating the items, if possible.

Authenticity first: It's fine.

I guess you're suspecting shill bidding based on the 0-feedback bidder with a ton of bids.

The seller doesn't know what your bid was. When you bid, the proxy bidding jumps to the next bid increment and stays there until the next higher bid comes in. At that time, if your max bid was higher than that, your bid will jump to the next increment.

In this case though (at least at this point), it doesn't appear to be shilling but rather, just a newbie who thinks she can win at a steal and makes minimum bids.

Newbies often bid at the next bid level rather than bidding at their own max and waiting for the bidding to reach that point.

I hope this makes sense.

Comments: Serial No: J8H-9980. This looks like a bad fake Taft bag with the notorious "J8H" prefix.

I'm not seeing any problems with that one. "J8H-" can be a legitimate prefix as long as it's on a bag from the right time period and as long as the font isn't wonky. This one has 1 letter that may be a bit larger than the others but that wasn't unusual on bags from the mid to late 1990s. This one looks ok and doesn't have any problem areas. Please don't report it.

Comments: I picked this up and put it back, and picked it up and put it back again...before I just had to go back and get it :) It looked like maybe a Sheridan to me? In really great condition, only one tiny scuff on the front and a little bit of wear to the bottom piping, in otherwise fabulous condition. Hope it's authentic, the more I look at it, the more I like it!

Also: any info you can give me on the name/style, as well as how to care for it would be apprecited. Can I use cleaner or conditioner on it? The strap feels kind of dry (but no cracking or anything). TIA Authentication Angels!

YokelMel, your bag looks good to me but I am not an expert. I just wanted to tell you that I just came across a very similar white and brown pebbled leather bag on the Goodwill.com site.

I don't think that it is exactly the same, but it may be part of the same line. It's in much worse shape than your bag though! Great find; here's the link:

http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Womens-WhiteBrown-Coach-Leather-Purse-7329533.html#des

It's fine. It should be about 8x8 inches and was called a Stewart Bag, the style number is 4231. Coach made 2 Sheridan versions of their Binocular Bag style and this is one of them.

All you should do to clean the pebbled leather is use a soft damp cloth and just wipe it down. I've never had any luck using any cleaners or conditioners on mine although Apple Conditioner well-diluted in a damp rag - terrycloth or washcloth/towel fabric works best - has been suggested by other posters. The strap is smooth leather so Apple or Lexol would be ok for that.

Don't try too hard to get an ink mark out. Ink is pretty permanent and the more you try to rub it or clean it, the more you stress and maybe even damage the leather. Pebbled leather is pretty water-resistant but that top layer can be damaged by rubbing or cleaning. And you don't ever want to give it a full bath like you can do with the unlined glove leather bags.

It sounds like you found a nice one too - congratulations!

Comments: I'm looking for something to carry my camera in and the Get it Now on this one is extremely reasonable if it's authentic. Looks like it may be a factory item. If someone could tell me one way or the other I would appreciate it!

Thanks for your input, Hyacinth!

I didn't report it as I was uncertain. However, I thought the leather hang tag's embossed font and border didn't look right and I wasn't sure about the bag's dimensions - 9 5/8" (L) x 8 1/4" (H) x 3 3/8" (W).

Can you request close up pictures of the front pockets including the turnlock, the strap and hardware and if there's a creed, a photo of that.

The seller listed it as a "Rambler's Legacy" (still available on Coach.com) and they copied the measurements for that bag: 9 5/8" (L) x 8 1/4" (H) x 3 3/8" (W) instead of measuring the bag correctly.

I owned the "Taft" and it's a bigger bag that measures probably 12+" Wide x 10+" Tall x 3"+ Deep.

I would never judge the authenticity of any bag based solely on the hang tag.

;)

I asked for close ups and most were blurry. These were the best pics. She said there is no creed.

I think it's okay but the pictures are awful. I wish people would learn to use the macro function and have decent lighting!

Please wait for other opinions before making any decisions because unless we can see clearer and closer pictures, I can't be sure.
