yard sale find, C's are cut off and sewn on (is that a myth or do authentic coach's sometimes do that?)

thanks

I don't see any problems in the one pic posted, however, it would be helpful to see more pictures of the bag, such as a picture of the entire bag including the handle, and pictures of the back and the inside. It appears to be a pouch. There is a seam running along the center of the bag, if that's what you mean by the "C's are cut off and sewn on." I don't see any problems with the C's.

oops, sorry about that and thanks!

i've read that there are sometimes weird spaces in the creed and lack of serial (?) and that doesn't necessarily make it fake? i'm trying to keep all of this straight haha, but i understand that we can't reveal too many details in public like this because of fakers

The pouch is authentic. Smaller accessories such as pouches, swingpacks, wristlets, etc. may or may not have creeds, and the creeds may or may not have serial numbers.

Item: Vintage briefcase
Listing: n/a. Purchased at a garage sale for $15
Photos: http://forum.purseblog.com/album.php?albumid=6865

This bag "feels" authentic to me, but I'm no expert on vintage Coach. I googled the serial number and nothing came up. The serial number is 083-3801. I did however find a completed 'bay listing for a bag that looks exactly like mine, only this one is brown and the serial number is way different. Its serial number has the format XXXX-XXX (four digits before dash, three digits after) and mine has the format XXX-XXXX (three digits before dash, four digits after). NMA: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330459557496

My bag is in overall sturdy shape. The "spinny part" of the left-pocket turnlock is loose, probably broken but it still "fastens" if you KWIM. Amazingly, no musty odors in this bag! Each of my previous garage sale finds has had varying degrees of musty basement odor or perfume, and if I stuck my nose inside and took a deeeeeeep whiff, I'd start sneezing (sign of mold IMO). No sneezing at all with this bag!

Another fun detail: The brass buckle is stamped "solid brass USA" on the underside. Both buckles have this stamping, but the stamping is worn to the point of being almost illegible on one of the buckles.

There is some loose stitching on one side where the buckle connects to the longer strap, but I can take this to a cobbler to be repaired. I've already started cleaning her up since I took these photos and she's looking MUCH better already.

I really hope she's authentic!

Photos are here: http://forum.purseblog.com/album.php?albumid=6865

TIA!

I think it's okay.

My concern about this seller is whether the pictures in the listing are the seller's own pictures. Several of her listings had different photography styles and backgrounds. She sold a Tattoo Tote that had very different pictures and background than the ones in this listing and the background in her two other listings were different from these two. Unfortunately, the seller appears to have set her booth to private so we can no longer view her other listings.

Coda - If you're the buyer, please post pictures of the bag here once you receive it.
I don't think the seller set the booth to private. I think the seller may be naru'ed from Bonz.

A private profile would still allow buyers to view the listings.

The seller provided me more pictures of the Alexandra, so I have attached the pictures:

Item: Leather Alexandra (Champagne)
Listing Number: 270626540245
Seller: Danyafriedman

Comments: I'm thinking she is authentic, am I correct? Is this bag one that I might be able to rehab?

Please post a link to the listing from which you bought this bag. Use the format requested in the first post of the thread.

I searched ebay and found several other calf hair bags and every other listing has a creed that states "from the finest haircalf and trimmed with....."

However, I also found some styles in the 94XX series that are calf (pony?) hair and appear to have similar trim details.

This listing is one of them, however the bag was made in China, not Italy. The creed picture doesn't show the serial number.

I think I found the listing:

Limited Edition Coach Pony Hair Extra Large Handbag
Item: 260652129624
Seller User ID: **jackson10**
http://cgi.ebay.com/Limited-Edition-...item3cb013dd58

I dislike sellers with this type of statement in their listings -- authentic or not!

I guarantee the authenticity of all my items as they all come with some form of proof of authenticity. Please do not send me an email asking if my item is authentic as I will not answer. Please don't challenge me as to the authenticity of my own handbags that I personally paid for and know in certainty of its authenticity.

It appears the seller sold this bag twice:

#1: Ended on Aug. 16: http://cgi.ebay.com/Limited-Edition-...item3cafee6597

#2: Ended on Aug. 22: http://cgi.ebay.com/Limited-Edition-...item3cb013dd58

I don't know whether the bag is fake or not. I was giving more information regarding other "hair" bags and the text on their creeds.

Please wait for further comment on the bag.

In the future, don't buy from a seller who doesn't include enough pictures to determine authenticity unless they send you additional ones.
HEY BB, if you have time, take a look at the other Sold items - seems like the same munged IDs show up on almost every listing, and by a funny coincidence, 2 IDs are now NARU.
http://completed.shop.ebay.com/**ja...e=1&_fln=1&_ipg=&_trksid=p3911.c0.m283&_rdc=1

So not only does he probably sell fakes but he also seems to shill bid his own auctions - over and over again.

CallMeObsessed, send the bag back and tell him it's fake and insist on a full refund.
Good catch, Hyacinth. I didn't catch the shilling.

What I did catch (but didn't mention) is that the seller's statement about knowing items are authentic because s/he bought them herself was kind of funny because the seller's bidding history shows that many of the items were ebay purchases.

From the seller's listings:

AUTHENTICITY
I guarantee the authenticity of all my items as they all come with some form of proof of authenticity. Please do not send me an email asking if my item is authentic as I will not answer. Please don't challenge me as to the authenticity of my own handbags that I personally paid for and know in certainty of its authenticity.

Yet, this is the bidding history: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...0**&completed=1&all=1&rows=200&sort=10&_rdc=1

And this statement isn't appropriate and I wouldn't do business:

I have seen and heard of overly-critical buyers who quibble to their sellers because a piece of carpet fiber was attached to their handbag and it wasn't disclosed. Please do not bid or purchase if you are this type of buyer. There is a difference between being reasonably finicky and a pain in an area where the sun don't shine.

Also, please leave appropriate feedback so future buyers will be forewarned.

thanks
The bag appears to be a signature top handle pouch and I don't see any problems with it. More pictures are necessary to authenticate.
