Can you get either a better pic of the serial number from a slightly different angle, or ask the seller exactly what the number is? If it ends in 6 it's probably ok but if it really is an 8 at the end, it's not.

And the measurements given in the listing don't match the style number or the bag shown in the photos.

I picked this up at a thrift shop today and just want to check if it is authentic. I don't want to keep it if it isn't. Any help I can get is very appreciated!! Also, if you can tell me what it is called, I would really like to know. If I am not mistaken (I read through the authentication tips first :D) this is from 2001, right?

Yes, it's from 2001 and was called a Field Flap Bag, and it's genuine. Nice find!

Can you take pictures of the wallet you received, especially a closeup of the logo stamp on the front, the inside of the wallet, the stitching, zipper, lining, snap closure, and back of the wallet.

This was listed as a used wallet, which may be why the card slots are stretched.

When I enlarge the photo, I can see that the last digit is a 6.

Thanks, Starry, that's what I thought too but the lighting is playing tricks with that 6. And I wonder if the seller re-used the template and forgot to change the dimensions because that's definitely not an 8.5-inch wide bag.

"-9816" is a style number found in a lot of fakes but this one looks genuine.

You're welcome - glad we could help. Finding a genuine bag at a thrift or resale shop usually seems to be the exception rather than the rule, so it's nice when someone gets lucky and can take a real one home. :D

The imprint is embossed as it's supposed to be. Wait for other opinions on the bag but I don't see any problems.

What you're seeing is an optical illusion. Shut your eyes and look again. Depending on the angle, it might look raised but it isn't.

If the seller will send you a clear head-on picture of the creed, that would be helpful.

Wait for other opinions before bidding/buying but I'm not seeing any red flags.
