I recently posted about a purse that I was questioning and received it today. The silver is all worn off around the trim, I couldn't tell that in the picture. The lady said it was in EXCELLENT conditioin, its far from that by looking at the silver trim & handles. The handles don't even stand up. The creed isn't stamped on, it's just painted on. It does have the little circle stamp in the right hand corner. She told me that it was used for a month or less. The wallet is in a lot better shape than the purse.. Here are some pictures. I'm filing a dispute with paypal I think... or should I do it with eBay?? What are your opinions? I paid $150 and $12 for shipping. I think I got ripped off!! Please help!!!

If you're questioning authenticity, you got an authentic bag. That style of bag does have the text of the creed in metallic ink (or paint, or whatever they use).

If your SNAD dispute is based on condition, please repost a link to the listing so we can see how it was described. IMO, for $150 you got a bag and a wallet, which doesn't seem like a ripoff to me. (And $12 for shipping is very reasonable. Many bags need oversized boxes and USPS prices are distance and dimensional based.)

Please wait for other advice before filing a dispute, but if and when you do file, it's through paypal since that's how you paid.

The problem with buying used items is that condition is subjective. What is "excellent" to one person might be "fair" to another and what is "good" to a third person can be "poor" to a fourth or "very good" to a fifth.

SEllers of used items need to be very specific in both pictures and descriptions so there is no misunderstanding regarding condition. And although sellers are responsible for accurately describing their items, with pre-owned items, buyers need to be somewhat more pro-active in ascertaining the condition.

Whats a "SNAD" dispute?! I mean, what does the SNAD stand for?!

And you would have paid the $150 for the bag and wallet, the silver is coming off around the entire purse.... Other than that, its in good shape, minus a few stains on the inside, but nobody sees that, and those I knew about going into this. And where the handle connects to the purse, it looks very flimsy. I noticed the handles were flipped around the other way, so that might be why it's more worn out.

I didn't file a dispute with Paypal yet, I did send her an email asking if we could negotiate anything.

I do understand what you're saying about the condition meaning to others... I wish I would have thought more about it & not gone completely on what she said.

SNAD = Significantly not as described

I agree that sellers should be honest about describing condition. As a buyer, I'm much happier receiving an item that's "better than described," than one where the seller didn't honestly point out issues.

I think too many sellers are afraid that if they are "too accurate" in their descriptions, they may turn buyers off so they fail to point out the flaws, wear, odors, etc.

I really am sorry you're disappointed and I don't know what to suggest to you as far as return or refund. But since you've posted in the "authenticate" section, I am confirming that you did, indeed receive an authentic item.

Many sellers are averse to giving partial refunds because (not saying this is the case here) buyers know what they are paying when they bid/buy and many often try to get even "better" deals afterwards. Thus, many of those sellers would rather just accept the return, refund and resell the item.

Item: Vintage Coach Handbag (not sure of name)
Listing Number: 180400495743
Seller: sawadi
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180400495743&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Comments: seller said it had brass hardware, but that looks silver to me, so not sure. TIA :)

The bag itself is genuine. If you're the winning bidder and it makes a big difference to you, you may want to write and ask the seller to double-check. The color looks silver to me but the black Court Bags could have had either nickel or brass hardware.
