Comments: Bought and received this purse. I'm pretty sure it's authentic but I'm double checking now. I'm attaching a few extra pics that weren't in the auction. Thanks!

Absolutely authentic! Congrats! We're bag twins! :D

BTW, I agree with BeenBurned. Yes, the seller needs to show more pictures. I usually will not bid on an auction showing one picture.

Thank you BeenBurned and starrymaz!! I was 99% positive it was authentic but I always have that 1% nagging feeling so I like to check just in case. I've been hoping to score this bag for some time now!

Yeah that's the risk with the 'bay. I figured that this bag was rarely faked. However i also thought that Lilys were never faked until I saw that auction today!

Hi please excuse me if I've done this incorrectly. Any info on this would be appreciated - authenticity and if known name of style or age. I've bought and sold several older Coach purses in the past on Ebay - but was confident of their authenticity. I bought this at a local thrift shop. Have read a lot of things lately about fakes getting better and better so dont want to make any assumptions. I read one ebay guide that said all Coach purses with this number were fakes, but other guides indicate that the numbers are no way to tell for sure. TIA for any thoughts.

Sorry, but that bag is fake. The serial number, as you suspected is a fake number.

I don't know if there's a fake serial number thread here, but here's the one from ebay and your serial number is in the first post:

Even without the fake number, there are a lot of other red flags - the spacing of the words on the creed, the feet, the texture of the leather, the style of the bag, the turnlock, and what looks like a big red flag in at least one of the creed words.

This is an OLD fake, BTW, and a lot of older bags were faked too, some of them pretty closely. Anyone who buys used Coaches without a way of checking the fake numbers list is going to have problems sooner or later.

There's a pretty up to date copy of the Fakes List right in the "Answers..." thread:

"I read one ebay guide that said all Coach purses with this number were fakes, but other guides indicate that the numbers are no way to tell for sure."

What that means is that a valid serial number alone is NEVER enough to prove a bag is genuine. But an incorrect or invalid number proves a bag is fake 99.999 percent of the time.

This is a tough one. I wish the pictures were clearer. Looking at the current and completed auctions for this style on ebay, I see one current listing with the same uncentered C pattern and the same serial number on the creed. The other current and completed auctions have centered C patterns. None of them are as badly uncentered as this one. As for the run-on words on the creed, there might be a space between the words, but the pictures are so blurry, it's hard to tell. I'm seeing the same sort of spacing on the creeds for the other ones of this style (completed auctions - but none of those were made in 2003.) The fact that the C pattern is so off would make me stay away from this one.

thank you
although i am sad this was going to be my first Coach bag,
ohhh i wish to have one so bad!

I knew that auction description looked familiar - it's because I've seen it and the picture in another auction:

How odd that the two sellers are in different locations, yet use the same templates. I wonder if they're affiliated with one another?
