I have a general question regarding fakes. I've seen fake bags, wallets and wristlets. What I'm wondering is if all items are faked on a routine basis, such as shoes, jewelry, umbrellas, scarfs, etc. I know I should authenticate any bag/wallet/wristlet that I'm thinking of buying from a non-coach seller, but do I/we have to worry about the other stuff (shoes, jewelry, etc.)? Thanks in advance for your response.

I also just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to our regular expert authenticators. The time that you spend reviewing, researching and responding is much appreciated. I don't know how you all do it, and can't imagine the time you all put into this, but I'm glad that you do! Thanks again for keeping us and our money safe.

I'm not sure how "factual" my comments are but they're based on my observations.

The counterfeiters will copy anything they think they can sell and make a profit on so I wouldn't venture to ever say that any item has never been faked.

But some items are more popular and the demand is higher, so those items are more likely to be faked. Handbags and wallets would fall into that category.

I've seen fake sneakers and shoes but not frequently. And often, the sellers of those fakes have several of the same items as well as other highly faked shoe brands, such as Nike. (It's not usually a one-pair seller.)

In fact, I only recall one scarf and that was actually a decent fake. It was silk and had what appeared to be the correct brown tag, but was made in Japan. (This was the only scarf I saw that I knew was fake.) I don't think there's enough profit for the counterfeiters to fake scarves because even at full price, they range from $38 to < $100.

Jewelry is highly faked as are keychains.

And I don't recall seeing fake umbrellas, though someone else may have seen them.

Well, I remember seeing LV umbrellas floating past me on rainy days.. all made of materials that will go "tulip" with the strong winds here... lol

And I think I saw a LV garbage bag on the net somewhere before... :graucho:

Yup, with all kinds of scary fakes out there, a big thank you to all the experts here who weed those junk out and helped prevent many a heartache over the wasted $$$.

I haven't seen that color, but nothing else screams fake to me. I'd just hate to see a possibly-authentic bag reported and taken down.

It's also odd that the care card is for signature fabric, but I've seen incorrect care cards in items.
