i thought it was, but after taking a closer look the msrp on the tag says $278 (coach site and description in the listing say $258)...is it just a misprint on the tag?

My guess is that when the bag first came out it was priced at $278, but Coach later lowered the price to $258. As I said in my PM about the other Parker bag with a higher price on the tag, both this bag and the other bag were made in Nov. 2008, while the other bags with the lower priced tags were made in Dec. 2008. So it's possible that Coach decided to lower the price after the first month of release and changed the tags.

The letter at the beginning of the serial number indicates the month it was made:
A=Jan.
B=Feb.
C=Mar.
and so on. Coach skips over the letter I.
M at the beginning would indicate it was made in Dec.
The letter or numbers after the year is the plant code. Then the numbers after the dash is the style number.

For example, my patent leather Zoe, style #12735 has this number on the creed:
E0873-12735
Reading the first part of the number: E=May, 08=2008, 73=plant code, 12735=style number. So my bag was made in May 2008.

Reading the year codes as I've stated above applies to bags made from 2004 to the present. Bags made from 1994-2003 have one digit for the year code.

I've quoted Hyacinth here:

The pattern goes like this: J4J = 1994, J5J = 1995, etc... then J0J = 2000, J1J = 2001, J2J = 2002, J3J = 2003, but then they go to four digits J04J = 2004, J05J = 2005, etc... So a bag made in 1996 would have a prefix of x6x-, but one made in 2006 would show x06x-.

In 2005 and 2006 even more codes were added although the year code is still in the same place in the sequence.

If you had asked before, I would have advised you not to buy from this seller. There are way too many red flags: low feedback seller who has already sold 5 of this same wallet, all for super low prices. The stitching doesn't look good to me. Please wait for another opinion.

In general, you should never buy Coach wallets from low-feedback sellers who are selling the same styles over and over. That's a huge red flag.
