^ Hmm, from what I can see the lettering on the Coach "hangtag" is off. And I'm pretty sure that charm was never made in this color....it's a breast cancer awareness charm and their color is pink!!

I didn't buy this. So here is the skinny my DH has been going ebay loco!! So I go and check his acct to see what he is up to and I see that he won a bidding for this charm!! I feel so bad because I know he is trying to surprise me, my poor guy. I hate fakes I mean really hate fakes so what do I do now? I think I am not going to tell him and just use it. :hrmm: help!

Sorry for the super late reply, something came up.

I would just tell him, genuinely, that you appreciate this kind and very sweet gesture. It's up to you whether you want to tell him it's fake or just use it and keep it DEEEEEEP in your authentic Coach bag... :p

It's very sweet that he is trying to surprise you, and you definitely don't want to make him feel bad, but who knows what other fakes he might buy in the future, KWIM?

Can anyone tell me if this is an authentic coach handbag? I've tried to research over the last few days and from what I've heard there should not be any spaces between the numbers (and it looks like there is a space between the 9 and the P)

CLASSIC COACH WILLIS 9927 W/NICKEL HARDWARE - (eBay item 260165232120 end time Oct-05-07 07:49:40 PDT)

I've fallen in love with this coach handbag! Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give! Julia:confused1:

There are really no hard and fast rules about spacing on the creeds, no matter what you may have heard or read, and the older the bag, the more likely that it's going to break at least one of the so-called "rules".

The bags from Costa Rica had serial numbers that were sometimes uneven and in a slightly different font from the bags from other countries. This one's genuine, although it may need some conditioning on the front flap. Lexol Conditioner works really well on the older bags.

You'll love the Willis, it's a great "classic" Coach bag and one of my favorites - I have it in eight different colors. :shame:

Good luck with the auction!

All right I already posted on here and I know these are fake bags! I have a PayPal dispute pending and the seller is disagreeing with my claim ! Now that I have educated myself on spotting fakes (a little late) I can tell these things scream FAKE!!! I am just so frustrated right now, I could scream...really how dare the seller disagree! Sorry I just had to vent!

You should really explain to him about all the fakes on Ebay - if he's paying attention he may even ask about the keychain without being prompted. Guys know that high-demand items like baseball cards are faked, so explaining it really isn't as much of a shock as you might think. And he might be mad enough about being ripped off to insist on returning the fake for a refund.

Better to do it now than find out he's tried to surprise you again and spent three hundred dollars on a fake bag - or even more on a new set of counterfeit golf clubs.

And like Margaritaxmix said, the Breast Cancer charms ONLY came in pink - three different shades on one keychain. Here's the genuine one, make sure all the colors and the details, especially the trim on the edge of the white glove, matches EXACTLY:

And the hangtag should be completely smooth.

If buyers would read the Answers To Authenticity Questions thread they could go a long way toward avoiding these problems. Post #34 talks about fake serial numbers like the 1417 numbers on your bags, and post 70 talks about fake keychains. There's a lot of other useful information there too, and more at Ebay itself - you just have to look for it:

and

Hyacinth, how do you know so much about Coach authenticity? I read your thread #34 & 70 on the authenticity questions, your sure have a great knowledge about fakes, thanks for all your info. Your a great resource for all us coach lovers!

Thank you for your fast response Hyacinth! It is very much appreciated!

Whoops! Post # 24 is the Fake Numbers thread, sorry!

And as for how I learned - by listening to other Coach experts, and by comparing questionable bags to the ones being sold by honest sellers. It also helps to start a database of photos of both real and fake items and make lists as you go along. It takes time, but I'm a "details" person and seem to be good at that kind of thing.

Investing in a good magnifying glass helps too.
