This one was made before 1994 when the style numbers weren't included in the serial number, so the drilldown won't help. (Serial numbers of leather bags made in 1994 or later will usually have at least one letter included in the first three digits of the number, BTW, that's one way to tell if it was made before or after 1994)

It's probably not a Legacy Flap bag - it looks almost like a City Bag but the front pocket is different. But it's at least 14 years old and genuine.

The wide spacing between the words "scars, scratches, veins" appeared on a lot of the bags of that era - it's not always an indicator of a fake, especially on the older bags. The way the serial number is impressed is proof to me that it's genuine. The serial numbers were all hand-stamped and they used a small press with rotating wheels that they could advance to the next number in the series. Often numbers would be a bit uneven and a lot of times you can even see the edge of the next or previous number in the series, just like on this bag.

It's NOT a fake.

Damn, I'm wrong again!

I'll just shut up now...:shame:

And this has nothing to do with anything, but I just think this smiley is hysterical...

I absolutely love this color! Seen the black one at our outlet, but not this color. Look authentic ladies?

sorry for requoting, it ends in a few minutes and hoping someone sees this before it does =) thanks

^ This is late, but those were authentic. I had a demi in that color combination and the C's on that fabric kind of shimmer and change colors in the light.. it's more beautiful in person!

Aaawww, please don't feel bad. Don't think of it as being wrong, think of it as learning something new. (Darn, we need a Hugs smiley).

BTW, I added some stuff about serial numbers to Kallison's pinned thread on authenticating Coaches, for anyone who wants to have that info where they can find it easily.

Bethy,
You have great taste then. :p How long ago did you find it at an outlet? I'm going to Vegas in a month, if they might have it there...
Otherwise, by "make an offer," do you mean just emailing the seller to see if they'll take something less?
Thanks!
Amy

I got mine in December. Yeah, I'd email the seller and see if she's willing to take less as a BIN or something like that. People have asked me to do that before and I've done it for reasonable offers.

I agree - we're all here to learn from each other and this is not a place to make any of us feel bad. Many of us are new to Coach collecting. Hyacinth, you're a gem and I've learned so much from your years of experience with
Coach. Many thanks for continuing our educations - I think I learn something new everyday from everyone on this forum.
