Kiari, most of the Madisons were made in the mid 90's. If you look at the creed patch you can see this one was made in 1996.

Don't confuse them with Coach's current Madison line which are mostly fabric bags. Like the auction description says, they were Coach's top of the line at the time. They use a fine-grain pebbled leather a bit like Chanel's caviar leather and were never faked - the leather was just too expensive for counterfeiters to bother with.

Thanks Hyacinth :smile1:

Is this real? Price with that little time left seems too good to be true!

Thanks!

If the seller is quoting the creed exactly then the bag is a fake. The bag contains Signature fabric as the main component so the creed should say something like "This bag is made of the finest fabric TRIMMED with genuine leather..." or in this case, split suede, whatever. Without seeing a photo of the creed to check the wording AND find out the serial number, I'd strongly recommend against bidding on it. Sorry.

Always read the creed - if the description doesn't match the bag, it's probably fake.

I looked at the seller's other Coach and the C's are a bit lopsided. I'd question that one too, especially since the seller doesn't show the inside or the creed. Also from the wording of the auction the seller bought these used - could have been from iOffer or Ebay, so there's no way to tell where they originally came from.

Added after more checking...

BUT... there are two others like it on Ebay, neither show the creed well enough to read it but one does show the interior and it's not the dreaded gold mini-C's like you'd expect to find in a fake. So if the original seller mis-quoted the creed it may be OK, but if the creed doesn't mention fabric then it's not.

Here are the other two, BTW:

Wcofer, if you bid on it be sure to pay with Paypal and a credit card just to be safe.

Wrong, it's absolutely genuine!

I have several Madisons and that one has everything it should have, right lining, correct hardware, etc.
A LOT of the older bags don't come up on the drilldown so don't use that to determine authenticity. Also, Caindi is a VERY reputable seller and if she gushes a bit, at least she sells genuine Coach.

Maggie, that bag is a FIND. The leather will be stiffer than regular Coach leather and you should be able to clean it with just a damp cloth - Coach doesn't recommend using any cleaners or moisurizers on the Madison leathers, although I cheat and wipe mine VERY lightly with Lexol once every ten years or so.

Hyacinth...many thanks for both your opinion on the bag and on Caindi. She seems just great...am currently awaiting arrival of my first purchase from her. Sadly, though, I'm easily lulled into confidence by a good attitute, so I'm starting to second-guess every purchase. You sound very knowledgeable and I do sincerely appreciate your input. That bag is about to find a home...

And now I am looking to buy this purse but I am not sure if it is authentic?
eBay: COACH Hamptons Scarf Print Tote Purse Bag 10113 (item 110093587725 end time Feb-22-07 19:45:55 PST)
Any help will be appreciated

The first one, we would really need more pictures. I don't think it is encouraging that the seller had 3 of them? Please take some pictures after it arrives. The second is authentic.
