Thanks again Hyacinth :D

So if I were to take something I bought on ebay into the Coach store near me, they could tell me if it was fake or not? My fiance just bought me my first keyfob from the store (I don't get it for another month--part of my grad gift), but I will use that to compare others to!

Thanks for everything--you are extremely knowledgeable!!

That's hard to say, some Coach employees will say that anything is fake if you say you bought it on Ebay. Different store managers probably have different rules about that. None of them will give you any kind of official authentication though, although most will let you know somehow if you have a fake.

With keychains, make sure you have at least one genuine one with a colored enameled hangtag to use for comparison since the counterfeiters often get the hangtags wrong.

Hello ladies,
I know nothing about COACH handbags, and am hoping that you could help me to authenticate this COACH please. Thank you so much for your help.

Yes, it's real. The Gramercys were from the late '90s and the textured leather had what Coach called a "linen look" a bit like Vuitton's Epi leathers. They were the top of the line in Coach's dressy bags and are pretty hard to find even on Ebay. It's a small bag but a classic design and is probably style # 7006, the Gramercy Small Top Handle Bag, and the color was called Wheat. The original price in around 1998 would have been about 278 dollars US.

Another newbie question....is the number on the creed for the style of the bag or does each bag have it's own number. I found a bag on ebay that is the same as the one I got a couple weeks ago (see my previous post) and it has the same number as mine on the creed.

TIA, Maggie

The second half of the serial number is the style number and will be the same, except maybe for an "F" added for bags made for the outlets. The first digits can vary since they include year, month and manufacturing plant codes. But that only applies to bags made after 1994.

We really need to see the creed patch in the first one, can you ask the seller for more photos?

The Coach imprint on the wallet looks pretty wonky, I don't think I'd bid on that one.

The credit card wallet seems to be OK.

That serial number is one of the most commonly-used numbers on fakes. The bag should be a Signature Demi, not a Legacy Shoulder strap. Sorry, your bag is fake. I hope you can get your money back.

Style #6094 should always look like this:

Well dang. Sine it was an estate sale and the sale is closed, I doubt I can get any money back. At $50, It's still probably the nicest bag I've ever owned, so at least I can say with authority "Oh, no, it's just a fake."
:shame:

Sorry I forgot to add that i've asked the seller for some more pics, particularly of the creed. Hopefully she will reply, i've had some sellers not answer when I ask for more pics, so i've just stayed clear.

I'm glad you mentioned about the imprint being wonky, I thought the same but put it down to the fact i've been sitting infront of the screen for a while.

Will post again when I have more pics. Thanks for taking a look Hyacinth, much apprecaited!

Thanks...so if the whole number in my bag matches the same number in another bag (same exact style and color) then that's ok?

It can be ok as long as both bags are authentic. There will be styles (same exact style and color) where the entire serial numbers are the same. It just means they were produced in the same year and manufacturing plant.
