Hi could someone help me figure out if this Coach Court bag is real? I found it on Craigslist. And asked for pictures of the creed. I'm wanting to make sure it's real before making the trip to get it.
Also, does it matter that it was made in Turkey and not US? Is it an older bag? Thank you so much.

Comments: Not really interested in this particular bag, but I have noticed recently on a couple sellers from the NJ/NY/MA area, that list brand new Coach bags at high BIN price, and they also have a few styles at very low starting bid with no reserve, and the creeds are not visible or very blurry... I guess I am being suspicious and just wondering if there are certain new styles that are showing up as fakes.

I can only comment on the seller and listing you've posted since I don't know who the other sellers are nor have I seen their listings.

The bag in the listing looks okay.

Some of the major department store chains (specifically Federated Stores which include Macy's, Bloomingdales) that have liberal return policies. Between what they have in their own stores' inventories and the returns they accept, they often have items that can't be returned to the selling floor. Some items have been used, damaged, shopworn, etc.

For those items, there are people and businesses who buy up the truckloads of stock and resell it. I think this ebay seller has one of those types of businesses.

They generally buy the stuff sight unseen and have no idea what they'll get. Some items may be perfectly new and unused while others are trashed. And I've seen a few cases where a reputable seller who bought Macy's inventory listed a fake. (A dishonest customer bought a bag at Macy's, switched tags and returned a fake with the original genuine receipt.)

While there are some sellers who have close fakes and HTF items at too-good-to-be-true
prices, there are some legitimate ones too.
I want to add an update (i.e., WARNING) to my post from a few days ago.

Although I thought the bag in the listing you asked about looked okay, at the time, I didn't look at all rfrcorp listings and because there was so many that it's virtually impossible to check all.

If you'll notice the part of my previous post that I've highlighted in blue, it appears that the seller may have purchased some fakes among the truckloads he bought.

While it's reasonable for sellers to assume that lots purchased from department stores would be authentic, one would think they'd know the basics about the products they sell.

Tonight, I found this listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-A2J-6...199769?hash=item2eea961459:g:IVUAAOSwqrtWmSfE

And in case the listing is removed, here are the pictures:

Thanks, BB!

Looks like the original listing for the fake has been removed. But it points out what can happen when a seller gets lazy or just doesn't care enough to check a few basics, like the style number of the bag being sold. The listing was for a "COACH A2J 6094 OP ART Signature Brown Claret Satchel Bag", and a simple check for style number 6094 on Ebay would have raised at least a few red flags. Not to mention the sloppy and un-Coachlike details of the bag itself.

A check of Daria48's Fake Coach Numbers List at Ebay wouldn't have hurt either.

I don't have much sympathy for sellers who get stuck with fakes because they can't be bothered to do some simple research.

Thank you BeenBurned for the update. I imagine that when you deal with volume is understandable that you could end up with a fake, although if you buy from huge retailers as Macy's I doubt they would be fooled in the first place, but everything is possible I guess.

That said I am with Hyacinth that it is no excuse, specially when you have to go through the process of taking pictures and confirm the style for title, etc... after dealing with so many real Coach, to research a bit further if in doubt.

What it puzzled me was the logic or lack of, of listing brand new bags with the BIN price at a reasonable high price, but others of the same kind start with a very low opening bid and no reserve. I guess is sellers tactics or whatever that as I am not I do not get, LOL

Regarding switcheroos at Macy's (and other department stores), I've seen it happen many times, in fact, once in person and I mentioned to the SA that the bag was fake. (Sales personnel aren't trained to authenticate and even if they had experience in doing so, chances are it would be limited knowledge and that they'd recognize every fake that came into the store is doubtful.

In the case I witnessed, while I was waiting in line to make a purchase, the customer in front of me was returning a fake Coach. After her return, I stepped up, mentioned to the cashier that the bag was fake and her response is that when a customer returns an item with tags and a receipt, they have to accept it and issue a refund/credit.

In that instance, she did put the bag aside (rather than back onto the selling floor) but in cases where there isn't someone to "enlighten" them, the item gets returned to the sales floor awaiting the next buyer. In putting the fake aside as she did in my case, the cashier was probably setting up a bulk-buyer like rfrcorp to receive a fake.

I've also found fakes at TJ's and Marshalls, again types of retailers where employees are usually young, naive and unaware of fakes. Buyers return after a switch and even managers don't recognize the red flags.

But I agree with Hyacinth and you that a seller of that much Coach should certainly recognize the lack of quality in a fake and at least question or verify that it's legal to sell.

Oh my gosh! I guess you are right, this type scenario will allow for fakes to make it to reputable stores, but geez! Those crooks/thieves must have nerves of steel.

Hello Everyone, I'd like to get an opinion on this Coach please. Interior tag says Made In India. Thanks so much for your help!
