Thank you and be safe!

I just bought one from ebay but found there is no serial number anywhere inside the purse. It is style F27349. I contacted the lady who sells it. she said not all coach purses have serial numbers? is this normal?
It depends on when it was made. Coach made a change about a year ago where they stopped putting numbers on the creeds. On the newer bags, the number is on a label sewn inside the pocket of the bag. You might have to turn the pocket inside out in order to find it.

Hi everyone! It's my first time on the forum!

This is also my first Coach eBay purchase and I had no idea this fabulous site would have authenticated the bag BEFORE I purchased. DOH! Just received it and things look ok to me, but again, since I'm new, would love an experienced eye.

I searched threads for the item (did not look like it was out there) and the seller. I saw a post that this seller only deals in authentic Coach, so hope this applies.

The creed pic on the listing is difficult to see, and because of the narrow fit in the purse, it is proving difficult to get a pic. The pic in the listing is fairly blurry. If needed I will keep trying.

Here is the listing info. All help appreciated!
:)

Welcome to the purse forum! The bag looks authentic.

Hi!
First time poster here! I collect and sell vintage and classic Coach bags. I usually don't have a problem authenticating them myself but this is a special case. I found what I believe is a PONY EXPRESS-- given the age and potential desirability of this bag I would like some more opinions on the matter. It has the Coach creed, but no serial number. It also has a little "x irregular" stamp (which I have seen on some other bags). I believe it is "irregular' because of the large vein/blemish visible on the interior pockets (and noticeable from the suede side as well). It looks perfect from the outside!
I believe the color is black but in some lights looks dark navy. Does anyone know if navy was an available color, or is this likely color fading due to age? Thanks!!
This link takes you to the album with all the pictures

Side note I also found a suede Berkeley Drawstring today! :wlae:

Welcome to tPF

And lucky you! It's definitely a genuine Pony Express Pouch, style number 9670 and from the late 1970s or very early 1980s- one of my all-time favorite looks from Coach along with the Musette. It breaks my heart that they didn't make the strap long enough to work as a crossbody for me. The last year of production seems to have been 1982, and it was available in both Navy and Black.

It's hard to be sure about the color, Black sometimes faded over the years to what could look like a very dark Navy. Whateve has much more experience rehabbing vintage Coaches than I and might have a better idea of the original color but I'm leaning toward Black.

And Congratulations on the Berkeley! You may want to check out a few other threads here where our vintage Coach lovers share photos and information about their special finds and their rehab projects too. Both can be found in the Coach Clubhouse at the main Coach Forum. Stop in when you have time and check them out.

Good Morning
I have a Brighton bag I own and would like to have it authenticated.
From what I've read I think it's OK, just want the experts to take look.
What would be the best forum to send it to?

TIA!

Authentications for brands that don't have their own forums should be posted at Authenticate This ... under Bags Bags Bags in the main forums index:

http://forum.purseblog.com/authenticate-this-/

Hope we have some Brighton experts here - good luck!

Thanks Hyacinth!!
It's not long enough to be a cross body for me either : (
And now that I know navy was a color option, I definitely think it's navy.

A few questions:
-Is this bag considered a Bonnie Cashin design? (Many people list it that way)
-Would the fact that this bag has no serial number put this on the earlier end of the age spectrum (70s)?

Also, not sure if this is the right thread, but if I plan to sell, what do you think a fair price would be given the age, irregularity, (semi) rarity? I've seen them go for anywhere between $300 to $770+

Your wealth of knowledge is invaluable! I especially love seeing old ads and catalog photos! I hope someone is paying you for all this work! :ty:

THANK YOU!!!
With the exception of #3 which is missing a creed picture necessary for authenticating it, the others look good.

Although I normally don't do this, while comparing #5 to others of the same style, I found another identical bag at less than 1/2 the price that you might want to consider:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-BLACK...611074?hash=item3d09189542:g:TaMAAOSwYHxWGGK9

Item: Ashley zip around wallet 40182?
Seller: Thredup
The pictures included are my own. I wanted to double check the authenticity and item name. If you require more angles I'd be happy to provide. Thank you!
