Could someone kindly authenticate this Coach Studio Leather Backpack - style number 9368: I bought on eBay and I'm now curious about the creed. I owned this backpack TWICE in both black and brown, and sold on eBAy.

I don't remember the 0 in front of the 9368 in the creed patch. It looks authentic to me and I can't imagine this would be fake but wanted to check....thank you very much!! I never saw these in the outlets so don't think it would have been a Factory redo. I've bought and owned Coach for years but just looking for another perspective.

Fantastic! Thank you very much BeenBurned for your help! I'm pretty good about these things but the 0 threw me for a loop. So, I'm guessing the 2nd one that I posted was prior to them running out of the serial numbers. I don't believe this backpack was available in this particular design/shape/style (the studio legacy has been around a long time and been redone (the body/shape) for more than a couple of years. So the two I listed must have fallen just far enough apart in manufacture times to have the difference in their creed numbers with the 0.

The Studio Legacy Backpack was re-issued in 2009 after being discontinued for several years. Here's the Wayback page for September 7, 2009. Scroll ALL THE WAY down to the bottom of the page. Even if you can't wait for the photos to load, you can still see the name of the backpack in the Coach Originals section.

Hi Everyone!

This is my most recent pretty-pretty. I thought it should have an A, B, or a C on the creed, but know from y'all that sometimes varies, so I just want to be positive :)

It's about 8" tall by 6" wide by about 2" deep, with a 23.5" drop in the last hole.

Many thanks!

It's authentic.

When Coach ran out of 4 digit style numbers and began having numbers with 5 digits, they added a 0 to the front of older styles to have a consistent format.

ETA: With 97% feedback, the seller blessed55us had better start describing her items more accurately or she'll find herself unable to sell on ebay.

In addition, she has this fake Coach:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Vinta...939130?hash=item1a08a14fba:g:Ao8AAOSwYHxWN~yi

And another fake Coach:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTHENTIC-C...302783?hash=item1a084b4ebf:g:r6AAAOSw4HVWCLPQ

There are other fake Coaches too.

And at least 2 listings with fake Dooneys.

AND,

another fake Court Bag, British Tan with a T plant code, which wasn't even used in 1994:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Vinta...922576?hash=item1a092a6350:g:dc4AAOSwl9BWMspf

Yes, I saw that one afterwards, too. It was among 18 fakes in the seller blessed55us 's current and completed listings. (There were 6 current fakes and 12 other completed fakes.) I reported the confirmed fakes. There were others where the creeds weren't legible enough to authenticate so they weren't reported.

All the known fakes have now been removed. :smile1:
Hyacinth, I asked her a number of questions before bidding. Why would she risk selling fakes?

Can you tell me how you know that the above are fakes? I would appreciate the education for future knowledge. The first black 'court' bag doesn't look like the real deal but the patch looks pretty good. I owned a Coach Court back way back in the day.

Either her camera angle is funky or the proportions don't look correct. I wonder if I should say something to her? I'm hoping to high heaven the backpack is the real deal but I trust you ladies!! :)
The backpack is authentic and had it not been, we wouldn't have mentioned why it had a 0 in front of the style number nor given it a name.

Without going into too much detail as we don't want to help her to know what not to show next time, I'll say that most of her fakes had portions of the serial numbers that were either invalid or incorrect formatted. Some had invalid or contradictory plant codes that didn't match the text on the creeds. And the Dooneys had other common Dooney-related issues that are commonly seen on fakes.

If blessed55us is not suspended from ebay after this, she'd do well to come here and learn how to correctly identify and list legal items.

I just realized something, It's not supposed to have those grooves, is it?!? Darn it, I get so confused to groove or Not to Groove! :(

Hi All, First time posting in an authentication thread so I'm not sure of this process...

I have my eye on a simple Coach wallet on eBay. Here are the details:

Hi,

Item: BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE LIGHT BLUE COACH WALLET
Listing number: 272021399575
Seller: nickis-this-n-that
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEAUTIFUL-V...399575?hash=item3f55bd2817:g:KmUAAOSw3ydV1Z4p

Comments: Can't seem to locate a style for this. Seller says she has no information of country of origin or date of manufacture. Condition seems too good for a vintage item?

Look forward to hearing everyones thoughts! Thank you in advance!!

I don't know the style name but I think it had "polished calf" in the name.

Although it's possible that a post can be missed, usually a skipped post means that someone hasn't come along who can help. Keep in mind that we come here on our own free time, juggling jobs, family, obligations, etc. to volunteer. We aren't always here 24/7.

The style number is 7850 but I don't think it's vintage yet. I'm guessing it's from around 2000:

BeenBurned - Thank you so much. I really appreciate your insight! :)

Sorry, I didn't know how to delete my other post, and I wasn't sure if it was buried, etc.

Item: Coach Mini Purse
Listing: 181910303462
Seller: ojr1978

Comments: I found this bag locally but it was reserved. Found it on Ebay after going through pages also sold. I believe it is authentic, I would like confirmation to try to find another one, but I do not know the name and there is no creed. A style "family" would help, anything.. thanks!

Hyacinth was kind enough to reply on the thread I posted before I found the Ebay one. Poppy or Willis family, so thanks to her now I found it in a matter of seconds.

Coach Poppy Leather Mini Bag (silver/camelia). I hope to find one for sale real soon. ;-)

OMG, I just ran to the purse. There are no grooves, the flash made a shadow to make it look like groovs in the photo, I think I could have played this character to a T :lawl:

Hi, Aunt Clara, we haven't seen you around lately! Still recovering from Halloween? You naughty Party Witch, you !

It's perfectly genuine. "A" plant codes are very rare, "B" codes were being phased out by that date if they hadn't already been discontinued, and "C" codes were also almost finished. Most of the early plants didn't make it to the end of that decade so there's no reason why any of those codes should be in your bag. The M code is perfectly legit and so is the Small Sidepack. It's in nice condition too, and just the right size to hold an Eye of Newt or Toe of Frog.

BeenBurned pretty well nailed it, it's called a Piped Polished French Purse With Frame and was introduced in Spring 2002. I think they called that particular shade of blue "Turquoise", don't ask me why. That's what it is in the catalog.

For comparison, here is the exact same backpack from another seller on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231748762438?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I'm now thinking of getting this one and comparing them.....

You can't expect any bags, even the same style bags, to have the same exact creeds, numbers and stamping details unless they were made in the same plant, month and year, and sometimes not even then. That's where the experts come in, we have the information and the photos for comparison.

Also I hope you caught my answer to your question about whether the bag was still being made in 2009. Again, if we don't know the answer to a question, there are places we can look to try and find an answer.
