It's authentic. It could be navy but it is hard to tell from a photograph. Sometimes the lighting will make a black bag look like it has color.

Hi, everyone! I have a briefcase that I received as a hand-me down from a cousin around 2000. It was in excellent condition at that time, and I really didn't use it, so it's still in great shape. I don't have a reason to suspect it isn't authentic, and the leather and stitching quality is great, but the tarnish on the brass makes me wonder. It measures 16" by 12" by 4". From my preliminary research, it seems like this may be pre-1994, given the number-only serial code? Thank you for your help!

I am hoping someone can tell me what the name of this bag is and if it is authentic. I wasn’t able to figure it out using the serial number so perhaps it was made before those became standardized? I found this bag at a thrift store.

I'm not an authenticator, but I'm good at image search. It looks like 9889, Buckle Bag. Here's a photo from the 1991 catalog.

It's authentic. It's a Beekman brief made around 1993. Tarnish on brass hardware in normal with age. On earlier bags like this one, they didn't put a sealer on the brass. Could someone please authenticate this. I bought it and then noticed the serial number was wonky. Did Coach ever make mistakes and put the year before the month and factory? Any help would be appreciated!
