Hi, authenticators,
A friend gave me two small bags that she said she bought 25-30 years ago. I am attaching photos of both. The bags appear identical except for color. The creeds have different style numbers. (One is 7650 and the other is 9650). If that were the only thing making me think they are fake, I’d wonder if one of them was a plant printing mistake. But also the three-digit prefix shows different plant IDs: one is 6 and the other is 9. The creed says made in New York City, and I have never seen either of those plant numbers for New York City. I think the 9 plant would be India. I have no idea what plant was represented by # 6. Also, the apparent years of manufacture would be 1995 for the black one, but the cream-colored one’s prefix is 316. I know that Coach only started using the XXX-XXXX ID system in 1994. The styles of the bags is identical. note the spaghetti crossbody straps.

Measurements: 7”x 7.75” x 2”

Are these both fake? I sincerely hope I’m wrong but I think they must be.

Also, I look for both of these style numbers online and couldn’t find either.

You are relying on some misinformation. Bags with NYC creeds don't have a style number in the creed nor plant or date codes. The number is just random. Both are authentic and were made between the late 70s and the late 80s. The style number for both of these bags is 9620 and it was called compact pouch.

THANK YOU, Whateve!! I’m delighted that I was wrong. And I learned something I feel I should have known!

Hi there!
I need a little help with this bag!
I bought it at a thrift store
I think it’s a companion flap? But I’m not sure.
The heat stamp is a little blurry. Is this ok? It’s about 7x8
Thank you!

Hi everyone, hoping to see if this is authentic.

Bag was received today and I noticed that the zipper had no markings. Not sure if this is normal for this style/year of manufacturing. Also, if it is authentic, what does the X marking to the left of the creed mean? Measurements, since not in listing: 7W x 6H x 1.5D

I can provide additional photos if needed. Thanks in advance!

It's authentic and markings on zipper or lack thereof have nothing to do with authenticity.

The "X" stamp means that the bag was one that Coach liquidated to a discounter such as TJ Maxx, Marshall's and for whatever reason, X-stamped items weren't eligible for warranty work nor could they be returned to Coach stores.

Thank you so much! Thank you for the info on the zippers, I unfortunately bought a fake at an estate sale (before I started learning more about vintage Coach) zipper was YKK and its a horrible fake.

Sorry one more post for today. I recently found some vintage Coach bags at estate sales. Hoping to see if they are legit. Thank you in advance!
