Hi! I’d love to know if this purse is authentic. I’m selling for a friend and not familiar with the collection, style name (mini signature Campbell, Campbell Belle etc) or style number. There’s not a creed or mini cloth tag on the inside so needless to say everything about her has basically thrown me for a loop. She measures 7x10.50x2.25” and any help is appreciated. Thank you 🙏🏼

I am SO glad that this forum exists and is still active. I ran into what I firmly believe is a counterfeit bag, but want some expert opinions.

Item: Vintage brown Coach crossbody bag purse
Listing number: 176613063905
Seller and site where listed: eBay, misskristin5
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1766130639...qRwFcUvRwy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

As I said, I am very convinced this is a fake Coach bag based on some research I did and the following discrepancies:
This bag has a serial number inside claiming that it is a style 9951 or Patricia Legacy Crossbody Flap bag made in October 1996. The serial number also lists an E as the plant code, which indicates it was manufactured in Italy, but the creed stamped inside says it was made in the United States. It has two seams on the bottom, where genuine 9951 bags have only one center seam. The creed and serial number are unevenly stamped and too close together. The creed contains odd spacing between words with the o in No being too large and the grommets on the strap and the buckles on the bag appear to be two different colors of metal.

I have reported the bag once to eBay already but it was dismissed so I submitted a second with the details I listed above. The auction has less than 24 hours left with people already bidding and I’m really worried they will be duped into buying a fake bag.

Thanks!

Just got back my second response from eBay saying it’s not a fake. Sooo I guess I hope I’m wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also don’t judge me too harshly if I was wrong 😬

You are correct. The bag IS fake.

Did you open a return request claiming it's not as described or pictured. (There may be a counterfeit option also.)

As long as you choose a NAD (not as described) reason, the seller misskristin5 MUST either accept the return and pay for the return shipping label or MUST issue a full refund without requiring a return.

If the seller doesn't do one of those options within 3 days, you can go back to the case and ask ebay to step in, after which they'll close the case in your favor, give you a full refund and ding the seller's account for not handling it herself.

EDIT: I assumed you'd purchased the bag but in looking at the listing, I see it's still active and you were simply reporting.

Glad you didn't have to go through the dispute process. You would have won but it's better to not have purchased in the first place.

Although I don't see any problems, I have a request that you hunt again for a small white tag. Stick your hand way down into the lower left corner of the zipper pocket. You may have to turn the pocket inside out to find it but I think there should be a label in there.

If you find it, please post a picture.

I’m glad I was correct. Something must have happened because even though eBay said my report was baseless, the listing is gone now. Thanks for looking at it!
