Hello! I wanted to check on the authenticity of this recent GW auction win

Item: "Coach blue messenger bag" (their title), I'm pretty sure it's a sage bag from the carriage classics collection
Listing number: 189776872
Seller and site where listed: Shop Goodwill (Goodwill Industries of Mid Michigan)
Link: https://shopgoodwill.com/item/189776872

Comments: Before it was delivered I thought I had correctly identified it as a Fulton style 9898, but after comparing it to the catalog pictures I'm not so sure anymore. All of the examples I could find from the catalog have a free extended zipper tab and sharp corners, but mine has the zipper stitched down the whole way and rounded edges. Beyond that that they do look the same, have the same adjustable strap, and the measurements are very close (although mine seems to be a little wider on the bottom than it is on the top). All of the Fultons that I found on here and other places online do have the same rounded edges as this one, though, so maybe they changed it between making the catalog model and actual production?

If it does look like it's authentic, would you agree that it's in the color sage? It's very earthy in person, but the stitching is definitely green.

Thank you!!

It's authentic. All Fultons I've seen are also rounded and the zipper stitched down like that one. It was probably changed after they took the catalog photo. It is probably sage. It may just be faded. I had a sage chauncey that was definitely green but looked brownish in some pictures. It did look greener than this one. The best indication of the original color would be inside the bag.

Thanks so much! The inside is definitely more green than the outside so sage it is. Do you have any recommendations on bringing back some of the outside color? I was already planning on a saddle soap bath and some leather conditioner, but it looks like something had spilled and hardened on the inside of the front pocket so it might be a deeper clean that I originally thought.

Red station bag. How does this one look to expert eyes? Thank you in advance for an authentication.

The biggest problem is the three letters of the alphabet in the serial number prefix, there's no numerical year code. The plant code M is the wrong size, the stitching on the leather zipper pull tab is incomplete, and the "M" Coach plant code for a US plant was retired in Spring 1998 and doesn't re-appear again until 2003 when it was assigned to a CHINESE plant. That 9144 style wasn't even introduced until Spring of 2000 and would never have had an "M" plant code.

The missing numeric year code just by itself is considered solid proof of a fake. The overall quality of the stitching and finishing is also VERY poor but the plant and year code discrepancies are the final proof.
Another huge thank you for this 🙏. I raised an issue with Vinted stating some of the indicators of this being a fake and the seller immediately accepted a return. Perhaps they knew 🤔. The more I handled the bag the more possible indications I could see.

Without the Authenticators on this forum there’d certainly be a lot more fakes in circulation. Glad to have found you ☺️.

I would give it a full bath and start conditioning before it is completely dry. The type of conditioner is important. My favorite is Leather CPR. Check out the rehab club for tips: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club.833400/

Hello! Can you take a look at this bag for me? I feel confident it’s authentic, but I haven’t come across a serial with an extra “ - “ after the No.

I looked some up on eBay, and see the G0D serial also had the extra “ - “.

Thanks in advance. 😊

Hello Ladies,

Please authenticate the following item:

Listing Number: 395186717238
Seller and Site Where Listed: sashan-2492 - Ebay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/395186717238
Comments: If authentic, please confirm item is Coach 4859 and also water buffalo leather.

As always, thanks in advance :flowers: !

It appears authentic. It looks like 4859. I don't see anything in the catalog pictures for this item that indicate it was made with water buffalo leather.

Thanks! Someone else purchased...
