IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

It's more important to include your own photo of the entire creed stamp and serial number.

PLEASE read my "Signature" under every one of my posts that starts "Ignore any "Rules" you find in those useless online Authenticity Guides...". YKK serial numbers don't prove ANYTHING. Please don't pay attention to anonymous online posters or "guides" that spew nonsense that was a lie 20 years ago and is still a lie today, and don't spend time taking photos of zipper brands unless we specifically ask for them. But ALWAYS include either a copy of the seller's creed stamp and serial number photos or your own.

And before you go further into Coach, please read the Salearea Guides. The links in the first dozen or so posts no longer work but it's the information in the Guides that's important:

Thank you!
Thank you Hyacinth, for the resources. I supposed that makes sense that a YKK zipper could be faked. . .I never thought about it, but learning about bags certainly gives a person a new way of looking at things!

Hello authenticators! I am not familiar with this era of Coach bags and have never examined a real one so I'm wondering if I have the real deal! Thank you!

Item: COACH Vintage Tan Leather "Metropolis Flap" Shoulder Bag, #9022
Listing number: 166354325117
Seller and site where listed: ebay

Comments:
1. Several brown threads are loose, ie at the beginning or end of sewing the thread should be hidden but in about 4-5 places there's about 1-2mm showing, one place there are 2 threads that are 1/2" and almost 1" (you can see in the photos if you examine very carefully but I don't know if I'm looking too hard for flaws.) 2. On the other hand there is almost no wear and tear on the bag (no wear from the buckle on the strap) 3. attached photos show something that I'm not sure is normal--white threads and 4. I'm not sure the significance of the back of the female side of the turnlock. 4. edited to add that close examination of interior zipper shows it is a YKK. Thank you for your assistance!

The bag is authentic.

The stitching may need repair. @whateve can help with advice.

Hello authenticators! Below is the information on a bag I already bought. I think it's authentic, based on the little I know (and which I have gleaned from this site), but any confirmation of the bag's authenticity or fakery would be appreciated. Thank you

Item: Dinky
Listing number/Reference: 35887301
Seller and site: Stephanie, Vestiaire Collective
Link: https://us.vestiairecollective.com/...ch/brown-leather-coach-handbag-35887301.shtml
Comments: From the pictures, I thought this looked like a Dinky. And it was pre-1994, so I went ahead and bought it. The price was too good to pass up. It was originally listed at $34.00, but when the seller saw I was interested, she reduced the price to $29.00.
--The measurements given by the seller for width and depth are off. The width is 9" and the depth is more like 1.5-2." I think the color is too. In person, it looks like burgundy.
It's fine.

Thanks for the photo. All the small details in the creed stamp and serial number are correct for the month, year and stamping indicated in the photo, and the bag is a genuine Metropolis Flap made in April 1997.

Hi! I just bought this bag at thrift shop and wondering if you know if it's authentic. I don't know the item name and can't find the made in tag and white tag. The bag is estimate d around W 40cm x H 21cm x d 15cm.

Thank you!

One more request today! Thanks for looking and sharing your knowledge and expertise.
This bag is advertised as BLACK, it looks BLUE to me. What do you think? And, of course, is it legit?

Please authenticate this clutch/ crossbody bag.
Many thanks in advance

Note: The bag looks very clean for its age!
It's authentic. It isn't Bonnie Cashin. It was made late 70s or 80s, after Bonnie Cashin had left Coach. It's a pocket purse. The pictures the seller posted from Coach are of a different style. It could be very clean as it looks but in my experience it is really hard to photograph this color and have any stains or imperfections show up in the photos. You could ask the seller if there are any stains or marks.

This one is authentic. The sold one looks good too. You could ask in the vintage chat thread if anyone has one of these.
