Hello Authenticators,
I recently purchased a cute tabby top handle on eBay. It is comparable to the other tabby top handle I have…I am wondering about the x on the top right corner of the creed? Does that still mean made for Marshall’s? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I think it's probably okay but my concern is with Tabby bags in general. They're extremely closely (and well) faked and the mistakes are tiny.

Additionally, in this case with this style, most of the bags (78503) have been sold in Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and other Asian countries. And many of the recent styles within the last 7 years or so coming out of (especially) Japan have been fake.

Regarding the "X" stamp on the bag, the conclusion I've reached (since Coach doesn't disclose their m.o. with coding) is that "X" bags are bags that were originally made for the boutiques and full priced department stores but were liquidated to discounters such as Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, etc. "X" stamped bags aren't eligible for warranty work although I've never seen them with irregularities worse than shelf wear or use. In other words, I haven't found actual defects in workmanship but at the deeply discounted prices, Coach can't afford to warranty them.

Authenticate this Coach Hampton hobo:

Hi everyone! I am in the process of purchasing this Coach Hampton Hobo from Depop and thought I would ask your opinions on its authenticity.

All the necessary pictures are in the listing, but let me know if you need me to upload separately. Not sure if this matters, but seller claims to have two of the bag to sell, which is what made me a little hesitant. I tried looking up the creed and it seems like other bags online have two additional numbers after “F30,” which I also felt unsure about.

Item: Coach Hampton Hobo
Creed: F30-7548
Seller and site: stephramirex on Depop
Link: https://www.depop.com/products/stephramirex-vintage-hampton-hobo-7548/

Thank you in advance if you get a chance to respond!

It's fine.

Thank you!!

Hi! I finally have the bag in my possession, but the creed is different than the one in the pictures. The one I have is “H040-7548.” Is that also authentic for this style? I really appreciate your help with this.

The creed you've shown is from a bag made in 2004. The one shown in the listing is from a bag of the same style but made in 2003.

If the rest of the bag you received matches the bag in the listing, it's fine. Compare the condition too!

It's odd that stephramirex would have 2 identical bags in the same color. (Sometimes a buyer likes a style and purchases it in different colors but that's not the case here.)

If you have any doubts about the bag itself, you're welcome to post pictures of the rest of the bag.

If I were the buyer, I would certainly ask the seller why she showed a different bag in the listing than the one she sent.

Thank you so much! What’s odd is that to my (admittedly untrained) eye, the bag looks to be the same and I’m okay with the condition. The trim on the side with the “Coach Leatherware” tag is a bit worn, but I took a photo without flash as the seller did and the wear isn’t visible, which is certainly misleading, but I don’t mind as long as it’s authentic. Here are my pictures:

The bag is authentic.

I just looked again at the listing and saw that it states, "(I have two available)" So she sent you the second that isn't shown.

In my opinion, it's especially important when sellers have used items to show pictures of the actual item that the buyer will receive since it's unlikely that 2 items will have identical wear, soil, scuffs, etc.

I got this from a private seller. Vintage Coach wallet. Please and thank you for an authentication opinion. It measures 5.25 inches by 3.75 inches by 1 inch. It came with coach tissues inside, a little booklet from 1995 and a drawstring bag. The inside sections have the blue and white ticking fabric.

It's authentic. I think I tried to ID this style before but didn't find it.

Hi Authenticators,
Could you please take a look at this wallet and checkbook cover when you get a chance? The leather looks and feels like my other wallet you authenticated but I've been fooled before. Ps. It has a made in China embossed in the leather that I've never seen before also the Coach logo is a little bigger than mine so I added a comparison photo too. I appreciate any help. Thank you!
