I recently purchased this off Etsy and it didn’t even occur to me that it could be a fake. But now looking closer at the number and snap I’m skeptical. I would appreciate your help!

As you already noticed, there are BIG problems with both of those details including both the plant code and the year code in the serial number. Etsy has a really bad track record with fakes. Get your money back.

Please post a link to the listing and the Etsy seller's ID.

I hope you can return it!

Aha! Why am I not surprised?

Although I didn't find the original listing from which the orange bag came, I did find the seller and her items.

trunkofjewels is the seller and not surprisingly, she's been discussed and posted several times on the Hall of Shame.

ETA: While looking through trunkofjewels 's current and sold items and feedback, I found many MANY more fakes that sold for big bucks.

DO NOT BUY FROM ETSY SELLER trunkofjewels!

Wow! This experience has really opened my eyes. Thank you for the quick help I appreciate it. The listing says it’s elegible for returns so I should be able to send it back!

Both are genuine. The first is from 1995 and the second from 1999.

I think the strap on the second one has been drastically shortened. The buckle on a genuine UNMODIFIED Coach bag should never be near the top point of the strap no matter which ORIGINAL hole the buckle is set on. That strap doesn't appear to be any longer than maybe 30 inches. One side of the original strap has probably been cut.

In contrast, the strap on the first one actually looks like it might be a bit too long. Willis Bag straps from both years should be 48 inches end to end. Previous owners may have modified them or bought replacement straps but Goodwill should include the strap length in their descriptions.
Thank you!
