Yikes, nevermind. The seller was really rude, would not give a better picture of the story patch and just increased the price from $289 to $329.

Is it offensive to ask for a more clear picture? I asked someone else once, and they were rude in their response also.
The fact that the picture is unclear in the first place is a warning sign...it's not difficult to take a clear photo. People selling fakes or otherwise misrepresenting what they have want confusion, not clarity. No legitimate seller should be offended by your request. Once you know how they responded, steer clear!

Sorry, two replies ended up in one post. I hope it doesn't cause confusion if I just leave them like that. If I try to change it I'll just mess it up.

From the measurements I'd say it's a Convertible Clutch from the early to mid-1980s, style number 9635. If you could include photos of the bottom and one of the bottom corners that would be great, the CC has several design details that are almost unique to that style. And can you measure the strap? It looks like it's about 36 inches which also fits the style. Thanks!

Here are pictures of the bottom and one of the corners. Also you were right, the strap is 36”! Thanks for all of your help

Confirming that it's a Convertible Clutch probably from the 1980s although Coach introduced the style at least 7 to 10 before that. The seamed and tucked-in bottom corners are extremely rare on full-size vintage Coach bags. There may be one or two others but I can't think of any off the top of my head. So with the center seam on the base, it actually has 3 bottom seams. Note that a longer 44-inch strap was also available

From 1987 and 1976 catalogs:

The auction has expired now. But here is the creed photo and a front shot of the bag:

That's DEFINITELY not right.

I hope you weren't high bidder. There are other things in the listing that confuse me but I can't see any of the seller's photos in the listing because of computer problems so maybe another authenticator can make some sense of it.

Maybe the plant made a mistake stamping the number, the Costa Rica plant by that time didn't make too many mistakes but there are always exceptions. I'm also wondering why the seller's description lists the strap color as Black and the outside color as Mint, unless the seller thought s/he was describing the condition of the outside?.

The creed and serial number stamps seem to be correct for a bag made in that plant and year. I personally would not have bought it because of the serial number difference. if the new buyer wants to re-sell it in the future, that could cause problems if potential buyers question its authenticity. I'm not even sure what style it actually is.

No, sorry. For some reason, I thought periwinkle would have nickel hardware but then I realized that was only on Soho styles.

Thanks! The creed and serial number stamping look right. As long as that's the identical stamp as the one you receive, it's authentic.

Thank you both. I am always amazed at the knowledge you all have. I have read and re-read the catalogues and I still feel like I know nothing.

Hi Authenticators,
Could you please take a look at this one? It looks like a lot of work so I want to make sure it's authentic before I try to clean it. Ps. I added more photos and hopefully a better picture of the creed. Thank you!

I thought as much, thank you. Bidding went bonkers on this one at the end and I did not participate, but I do feel bad for the winner.

@JLY77
I am not commenting on the bag in question because I don't want to promote either the seller simonalouis or Poshmark.

But I do have a comment and DO NOT recommend doing business with simonalouis or any other seller who is rude. Nor do I recommend a seller who raises the price of her item just because someone showed interest and/or asked a question.

In fact, an honest seller appreciates a buyer who does her homework ahead of time, one who knows what to look for, what pictures to request and has the foresight to request pictures and verify authenticity PRIOR to making a purchase.

As a seller, I'd much rather have a buyer who asks questions and gets necessary pictures in order to make sure that I'm getting what I'm paying for.

IMO, simonalouis isn't a seller who deserves your hard-earned money.

End of rant.

I take it back. That was NOT the end of my rant. I have another reason to avoid SIMONALOUIS on Poshmark.
Someone will be scammed for $249!

And since I'm still able to edit my post, I'll add this one; someone paid $110 for this fake.

It looks like the seller arlsha_2 is showing a picture of the creed from a previously sold item, a genuine city bag. The bag in question that was sold today can't be authenticated as shown.
