Hello Authenticators!

Not familiar with all the City Bag colors, so just want to know if this one is real:

Item: Coach City Bag - Dark Purple color (maybe aubergine or eggplant)
Seller: restivo1
Site where listed: Poshmark
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Like-New-Coach-City-Bag-VERY-RARE-DARK-PURPLE-18-YEARS-OLD-ALMOST-VINTAGE-63c6d4917dfcc2a438f7e00f
Comments: She says the bag is in like new condition, which it appears to be, that's why I'm worried it might be a fake for somethingshe's had for 18 years.

I don't recommend buying this bag or any of the other Coach listings from Japanese sellers. (Although this listing implies that the seller is in the Irvine, Ca, I have doubts. The ID is similar to many of the Japanese seller IDs we see, the title is similar to Japanese sellers' titles and the minimal description is "Japanese style" too.)

There are just too many fakes of popular styles and themed items within the last 8-ish years from Japanese sellers. (See separate thread with warning about Japanese sellers.)

Although I also recommend extreme caution if not avoidance of Carousell and I have no idea whether this listing of the same style is genuine or fake, the creed is different. (BOTH MAY BE FAKE, BOTH MAY BE AUTHENTIC OR ONE MAY BE GENUINE AND ONE FAKE. My guess is that both are fake.)

Creed from ebay listing asked about:

Creed from Carousell listing of SUPPOSEDLY same bag:

Thanks BB for your time and expertise. I was not exactly jumping on that bag :) and actually your creed looks more "real". What caught my eye was that "it was crafted IN the finest materials" along with the "American attitude" and the rest is a bit of a word salad :). I have been know to not read these creeds closely, especially if the imprint is not too clear, but I'm learning from you ladies..Thank you !!

Hi Authenticators,

Please take a look at these two bags. Both have been at the bottom of someone's closet for a long time, it appears.

The first was obtained from GW, measures approx 10.5x11.5. I thought it was black with brown accents, but better light on the interior suggests that it might have started out as navy.

The second is a much used and abused large bag, I think BT originally. Also from GW, measures approx 15x12.BT case front.jpgBT case back.jpgBT case creed.jpgTBT clasp.jpg
Thanks!

Hello wonderful Authenticators! :tender:

When you have the time, would you be so kind and authenticate this Coach Klare I just purchased. I'm just a tad worried due to price, I've been on the hunt for this bag for some time and the price seems too good to be true and/or I just snagged a great bargain! Thank you!:heart:

Item: Authentic BNWT COACH Klare Crossbody in Signature Canvas
Listing number: 304772298253

Comments: If you need any more pics I'll take them once I receive the bag. That's IF it's authentic! Here's hoping it's authentic!

The pictures showing the actual bag look good.

(It's a pet peeve of mine when sellers use stolen stock photos and this seller does it in most (if not all) listings.) Clearly, she knows how to take decent pictures so using a company's copyrighted images isn't necessary!
Rant over.

Hello. I would appreciate your help authenticating this item.

We need to actually be able to read the serial number and see the details. Especially since "B70-8826" can't be the correct serial number, the production codes in that sequence aren't valid. So without being able to read it and verify whether or not it's valid or if someone just made a mistake copying the numbers, I'm stuck. But I need to be able to read it to authenticate it.

Another photo on the poshmark listing of the creed from hytop's request: To me it looks like it reads - 9826. Which IS a correct style number for the vintage belt bag. I hope this photo helps, I straightened it up and enlarged it.

Thanks!

Is there any way you can determine the plant code?

I can't see it at all.

It's authentic, made in 1997 and C is the plant code.

Thank you so much @BeenBurned

My pet peeve too!!! :annoyed: Stock pics! I didn't know, I'm so sorry! I've been after this bag for well over one year and now I find one that uses stock pics! No cool at ALL! :nono:

I'll have to wait until I receive the bag to make sure the Creed and ALL the details match now. My concern now is the Creed won't match what is in the listing and all the other details too. Oy, Oy, Oy!

If you wouldn't mind telling me what year this bag was made please and thank you!

If the bag you get is as in the pictures, i think you're fine. Not all her pictures are stolen, which is why it doesn't make sense that she wouldn't take all her own pictures.

I can't open the photos to see the creed and serial number so another authenticator will have to look at those details.

But Coach DID make a series of classic styles for the Factory outlet stores in the mid-2000 decade, and Aubergine was one of the colors available for the City Bag. In fact, I own the identical twin to that one, also made in 2005. So it's almost certainly genuine.

I edited the post to add the photos so you can take a look.

Thanks for the photos.

It's completely genuine and is from the same production run that I referred to in my earlier post.

Thanks!

Both bags are genuine, from the late 1980s.

The top one might be a style 4075 Bucket Bag from the Lightweight line, the bottom one may be a Style 5180 Metropolitan Brief Bag.
