Hi, y'all. I am hoping for some help with this bag. I ordered it solely for the strap as a replacement for one on a Dakota Collection bag (although this is a Sheridan--close enough). I was not necessarily concerned about it's authenticity. Now that I have it though, I am very curious as to it's authenticity because I've never seen some of the features this bag has, particularly the zipper pull and buckle.

Item: 4217 Sheridan Charleston
Seller: glad goods, Mercari
Link: Check out what I just found: Vintage Coach crossbody bag: Get up to $30 off* when you use my code ETMCHE to sign up for Mercari. *Terms apply #mercari
Comments: The creed is very faint and hard to read. I did the best I could on the picture.

Thanks in advance!

I've got a BAAAAAAD feeling about that bag.

Coach logo and cartouche on the creed are much too big. Creed wording is totally wrong for any Sheridan or Dakota and should say where it was made. Main color is too white, leather zipper pull is wrong, buckle should NEVER be stamped Coach - if the entire bag isn't fake, I guarantee at least the strap is. If you put that strap on a genuine Coach to resell, a buyer would have every right to question its authenticity.

And I really need to see the actual color of the lining, Sheridans had a textured taupe-color faille lining. If there's an inside pocket I need a photo of it and how it's constructed. I can't see ANY listings from Mercari so your photos are all I can base my opinion on.

I'm 99 percent sure it's fake, probably from our friendly Korean counterfeiters, but need a few more photos.

ETA- This is a genuine creed and lining from a 1992 or 1993 Sheridan before they included serial numbers:

It's fake. In addition to the problems @Hyacinth pointed out, "markings" is spelled as MARXINGS.

ETA: The fake from glad goods is also unlined, described in the listing as "Raw leather interior"

Apparently when you buy one duffle sac…one in every color is necessary.

I found a black and mahogany I’d like to have authenticated please. I’m not confident without being able to see them in person.

Much appreciated!

I knew the creed was wrong for a Dakota bag since I have a genuine one, and I figured since they started making both collections around the same time that the Sheridan bags would have a similar creed. That creed didn't seem right to me at all, so that's good to have confirmed. And that zipper pull didn't look like ANYTHING I've ever seen on any Coach. The pictures of Sheridan's I've seen (and I dived pretty deep down the rabbit hole) show a pull tab with sewing all around edges, not a wide tab simply glued together. I thought the bag was fake...

Good thing I didn't buy it to sell the Dakota bag I have. I really like it and want to use it, but some previous owner cut the strap for shoulder length (very uncomfortable with a bag this shape and size).I was going to buy a replacement strap from Etsy, but this was cheaper (and we know why, haha). I'm going to use that strap anyway, since it's my own personal bag, and I don't mind. I would have had a replacement (not Coach) strap on there anyway.

Thank you, ladies, for all your help and for confirming my suspicions. It's good to know I was on the right track with my thinking.

Hi Authenticators! Thank you so much for what you do. I found a bag I might be interested in trying to rehab, but my search in this forum indicated that L6C might be a sketchy serial code sometimes. The photo of the creed they gave me sucks, so let me know if you can't authenticate without a clearer picture.
