IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Can you post a copy of the creed and serial number photo from the listing? I think the seller who is re-poshing it may be re-using the original seller's photos and my computer can't open them. If you posted your own photo of the creed, even better.

The color of the bag being sold looks like BT to me. Mango is more of a bright orange, see the 1993 catalog pic below, click to enlarge. The color of the inside pocket where the creed is stamped is often the most accurate photo of the actual color.

Hi Authenticators!
May I please ask this bag to be reviewed? Thank you so much in advance!

Just curious who authenticates poshmark bags now?

I still try, but I need a readable copy of the seller's creed and serial number photos along with any details that a potential buyer is questioning. I still don't RECOMMEND Poshmark but they're not the only selling site playing dirty games these days, as anyone who reads this thread every day has probably noticed.

Unfortunately I DON'T authenticate newer styles from the last 10 or 12 years so I can't help with your question, maybe @whateve can take a look

OK, that's definitely genuine, made in Italy in December 1995.

But that's not the listing I looked at earlier. The link you posted took me to THIS one. Same seller, almost the same style and color, and the serial number that I mentioned in my first reply, E6M-4140 for May 1996 Costa Rica plant.

I wonder if the seller may have mixed up the listings and then corrected it? Or did you make any changes to your original post and maybe changed the link? I noticed you made an edit almost an hour after you posted, maybe your edit and my reply "crossed in the mail"? I was going strictly by the link in your post but it took a while to find and open the photos because I had to switch to a different browser. There doesn't seem to be any other way that could have happened.

ETA - even the endings of the Ebay listing numbers are similar, 59922 compared to 51599.

Update! Mercari customer service is giving me the runaround, say they cannot access the Purse Forum "for security reasons." I sent them the link and also screen captures of the authentication fail. They claimed they couldn't read it and to send them a zoomed in capture. I did that. The girl herself, SS April Mott, denies it's fake. "It's not fake. I promise on everything I love. It's a vintage bag. Real leather and it has coach on the inside. I would never lie to anyone who is buying something." I think she just didn't know. Such a rigamarole for a small-ish amount of money. Meanwhile, the return is still in limbo... Moral of the story: check here first before buying (or certainly before accepting).
Did you fund the payment with a credit card? If so, dispute it with the card company. (It won't hurt to let Mercari know that's what you plan to do. They might just issue the refund to avoid the $20-25 chargeback fee.)

As for SS April Mott, refer her here if she's willing to come.

I believe they're both genuine, but bags with Factory Store style numbers can be hard to verify.

The first one was made in 2007 and I think is a Factory Store version of a Soho Leather Flap Satchel. I've never seen it called a Brompton, it was a Soho Leather Flap satchel on Coach's website when it was originally released in 2005 and still uses the original 2005 style number.

I can't find a name for the second one but it's one of Coach's nearly 100 Hamptons styles. This particular one was made in 2008 and might also be an outlet version of an earlier style.

More opinions are welcome.
I agree that both are authentic.

I think the second one is called Hamptons signature carryall.

Yes, I used a CC. And I did tell her (?) about this forum. :)
