Hello All! I’m a newbie here and am still learning the ropes, thanks for your patience. This bag was passed down to me by my aunt. I have no reason to think it’s not authentic but have not been able to confirm or determine the age and style so I’m hoping the experts here can help. I did notice the anchor stamp on the strap clasps and found an interesting thread here about that. I don’t remember who had researched that but thank you. There is a wealth of information here and I love it!

It's an authentic convertible clutch made in the late 70s or 80s. It looks well cared for. I don't think we know which years Coach used the hardware with the anchors.

Thank you! I really appreciate the help. It is in really nice condition but could use a little TLC. It was when I started to give the clasps a polish that I discovered the anchors and started down that rabbit hole. I‘ll have to see if I can find that thread. Again thank you! It’s fun when you not only know a bit about the life they’ve had but also about when they came to life.

Hi BB,
I'm interested to know why/how this is identified as a fake? Is it because of the creed wording and the serial number? It says it was made in the United States and the serial number begins with J8P. Is that the giveaway here?
There are other things wrong with the bag but the creed is the first and most obvious. Without going into too much of the muck and mire, I'll just discuss the creed.

J8P is a valid prefix when it's on a genuine Coach bag but it's also a favorite among the counterfeiters. The font is incorrect for the 1998 P plant and the creed text is contradictory since it states that the bag is US made but P isn't a US plant.

There are so many factors that go into determining authenticity and one can get themselves into trouble if they self-authenticate based on a "correct" style number and/or a "valid" prefix and/or "valid full serial number."

I have one more for yall,
Item: Coach Swagger 27 Green Braided Strap
Listing number:294811803226
Seller and listing site: flag1979 on eBay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2948118032...esuzh9rqkw&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Thank you!!
The listing is missing a picture.

Buried (and hard to find) somewhere inside the bag should be a small white label with 2 rows of letters/numbers. It may be at the bottom on an inside pocket and it might be necessary to turn the pocket inside out to find and photograph it. That picture is necessary for authentication.

Now that I'm able to post again, I can add a bit more of the results of my research.

Although my "proof" isn't definitive enough to confirm (in)authenticity with 100% certainty, my opinion is that the bag on Poshmark from mellissawils129 is questionable (at best) and fake (at worst).

Even without being able to read the serial number, I believe the bag is fake based on the creed text, spacing and font when compared to other fakes as well as the one in question compared to a couple of genuine creeds.

First shows similar spacing on the bag/creed in question vs. other fakes. Although the PM bag in question appears puffier, there are large spaces between words as NOT seen on authentic items.

Second shows the difference in spacing when compared to authentic items:
