I believe it's fake. Not only is the "T" plant code NOT valid for the year 2002 and the United States location, but the badly overstretched leather all over the back, too-short inside pocket zipper and sloppy construction details including the too-thick buckle are all red flags. The positions of the two halves of the snap on the leather strip at the top of the bag also seem to be the wrong way round.

This is a GENUINE example:

ETA - Be VERY careful when looking for this style, I'm also seeing what looks like another fake on at least one other large selling site.

Thank you so much! The look of the bag and the "T" in the serial number were bothering me too, so I checked with the experts.

Coach Vintage bag?
list# na
seller- mellisawils129. Poshmark
link- https://posh.mk/x7RqLsWIqtb
no creed # that i can see..

The male part of the turn lock doesn’t look correct compared with my other bags. The creed is US - I was under the impression that pre number creeds are only nyc…. then again maybe the serial #s i can’t see. What do you think?

Since I can only see the first 5 photos, and since there apparently aren't any fully readable creed or serial photos, I'm not even going to speculate.

Once again I'm going to suggest or ask that sellers' photos of the creed and serial number be included in authentication requests, especially when anyone thinks they see a possible problem with the creeds and serial numbers.

I wrote to the seller to post a clear creed- the male portion of the lock was really bothering me so i took the chance of posting. Here’s their reply just a second ago- The #s are so faint, i can’t decipher them- tysm for looking at this :)

The serial number is much too faint to read. I'm not sure if even BeenBurned could work her magic on that one. But there IS a serial number, it's not "pre-serial" or "pre-number", and the creed wording is what Coach began to use in the mid-1990s. It looks like there could be an H or M in the prefix and the style number might be 9755 but that's not nearly enough to authenticate. IF THE SERIAL NUMBER IS MISSING OR UNREADABLE OR THE SELLER WON'T SEND A COPY, DON'T BID.

If comparing one piece of hardware to another, post photos of both.

Hello! Returning to TPF after a long hiatus because I had a thrift shop find I’m hoping is the real deal. The leather was very nice (though dry and scuffed), so for $14 I took a risk. The only thing that looked different was the grommets seemed less visible than I’ve seen on other bags, but I know there is lots of variation in hardware.

Hello, new to using purse forum for advice on bags and I'm confused where to post so apologies in advance if this is the wrong place.
I buy and sell vintage coach bags and am fairly good at deciphering real from fake, however everyone is an expert these days and customers have been asking why some of my vintage legacy bags have old looking slightly silver-tone chain link zip pulls on inside pockets. I cannot for the life of me find any information to be able to verify and answer people. I'm attaching a couple images of a Made in New York City with a different color zip pull. Can anyone confirm this is normal?
