Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

It's fake. Plant code doesn't match the country on the creed, looks like there are indentations on the back of the turnlock Which she doesn't show clearly in her photos), and she may be deliberately lying about the plant code in her description. There is at least one other problem too. The seller's statement that "This item is sold as-is with no guarantee or warranty" does NOT mean she can get away scot-free with selling a fake!

Send it back and make sure she refunds every penny of what you paid.

Sorry for the really bad photo, I have a friend who has thrifted this bag...I could only get this creed photo from her and my volume button got in the way.
It's a flap style bag like a Patty but I think that it's fake...would like conformation please.

That "M4N-" serial prefix is mentioned more than once in the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers list. Without even seeing the rest of the bag - and I'm 99 and 44/100ths percent sure that the style number doesn't match the bag - I'm calling it FAKE.

@Hyacinth I was just reading your excellent Italian coach guide above and I have a question. I am currently rehabbing a Gramercy Top Handle 7002 bag from 1999 (that you graciously authenticated for me) see below for one of the auction pictures. I am trying to figure out the color name for this...

"-4154, -9941, and -9956 are style numbers that have appeared in dozens if not hundreds of proven fakes, and Coaches with any of those numbers should always be assumed to be counterfeit. I've never seen any genuine bag with these style numbers.


M4N-4154 - Anything starting with M4N- is suspect and should be authenticated by an expert.

-4154 style numbers are showing up on a LOT of fakes, usually but not always starting with M4N-, M4H-, N4N-, J8H- or some similar combination. That style number should belong ONLY to an all-leather bag from the Soho line although the style number itself may be a "blank" like -9956 and may never have been used in an actual purse."

Just for the record, style number -4154 has never been seen in a GENUINE Coach.

And for heaven's sake, tell her to look at the word "SCRTCHES" in the creed. Every fake I've ever seen with that serial number has the same mistake.

Hyacinth, I'm not sure what to tell you. I click on the link that I sent and it works. I've logged out of Etsy and found the bag and clicked on it and it works fine. I've opened new browser pages in both Chrome and Edge and it works.

I don't think it will work but instead of copying the link, I inserted it. Susan's Bag

If that doesn't work, I can download the information from the website if you want.
