1- genuine

3- normally we won't authenticate any highly-fakes style without a clear photo of the creed and serial number, but in this case it isn't necessary. There's a major mistake in at least one of the construction details, and it's fake.

4- genuine

5- genuine

I believe it's a genuine Soft Satchel, style 4055 or Soft Satchel Large style 4060 from the Lightweight line and made in the late 1980s. I'm leaning toward it being the smaller 4055 but it's very hard to tell without measurements.
Thank you so much, Hyacinth!
I purchased it and it's the smaller of the two, which I'm super pleased about bc I have this same bag in black and it's my favorite these days. However, I'm definitely curious about the larger version and will keep my eyes out for it.
Bummed about the ink, especially after deep diving to see what others here have done to remove ink marks, but I knew it was there before I bought it. I'm going to hope rehabbing it helps, but if not, I'll just carry that side facing my body.
Seriously, this bag is so light, soft and squishy, but the shape holds and it looks beautiful dressed up or down.

I have several authentication requests. I feel greedy asking about 5 bags…I truly appreciate your help and having your expert info!

I’m still in search of a decent Wilis:

1) From Goodwill: E9P-9927

This one’s creed has a space between the 2nd and 3rd letter of the country/month/factory code (E9P looks like E9 P). I looked up the code and have seen it this way on other styles being sold, but they could be fakes, too! I know the code itself is ok because I saw a bag in another style with that prefix authenticated here. Is the weird spacing on the creed number indication of a fake?

2) Also from Goodwill, H4C-9927:
I found that exact number on another Willis that was authenticated here in 2018. Does this one look ok?

3) From eBay, F040-9927, not as old as the others. (Don’t just look at the first photo!)
COACH Vintage Willis Crossbody Messenger Purse / Bag 9927, Turnlock Closure

These two are Station bags, and beat up, but I’d love to rehab one. Goodwill:

1- genuine, from 1999. The ONLY time you should ever compare serial numbers is with a bag with the same style number and made in the same plant, month and year. In other words, with the same exact serial number. And even then they BOTH could be fakes.

2- bags made since 1994 in the same plant, month and year that are exactly the same style will have the same serial number. That's why they have the same production codes

Before you worry any more about serial numbers,. read the Salearea Guides thread posted and Pinned at the top of every page in this sub-forum. If you read it carefully your questions should be answered, at least partly. You need to understand serial numbers and their history. You also need to understand that every Coach plant had their own creed and serial number stamps, and they were ALL different. Don't try to compare them.

it's also genuine.

3- why are we supposed to not look at the first photo? All I'm seeing is a bag in need of a rehab. It's genuine and made in 2004

4- genuine, made in 1995

5- genuine, from 1994

Thank you very much, Hyacinth. For #1 where the prefix code was spaced out in a weird way I just wanted to see if that plant had set its machinery up that month in the same spaced out way on other bag styles, and I found that they had! But again, both bags could have been fake. You answered my question about strange spacing of the prefix numbers indicating a fake - evidently that isn’t a problem.

For #2, I WAS comparing the same exact style from the same plant in the same month (a gorgeous tan Willis someone here asked about a few years ago). Knowing that the one I found here from 2018 was authentic, I could at least conclude that the same prefix number on the Willis bag I’m considering was not a fake number. But I get it that just because the number is ok doesn’t mean the bag is authentic!
#3 - the main photo would lead one to think the bag isn’t a Willis at all, since the top of the bag and handles don’t show. (Maybe it will stop some people from bidding and give me a better chance of getting it!)

Again, your help is much appreciated. I’m happy that I didn’t pick any fakes amongst these. I have learned so much from you folks here!

I loved this style when I had it but the zippers were wonky. One of them stopped working at all and then miraculously started working again. I was afraid the zippers would eventually stop working permanently so I sold them before that could happen.

Interesting duffle. I think I recall it on the site. Just verifying authenticity here.

The Duffle Sac is definitely genuine, from 1994, but I don't know if all the pins are Coach. I recognize a few of them but never really paid much attention to them.

Hi, looking at this at Savers & wondering if it’s authentic.

The creed and serial look good, but I'm wondering if one of the owners fiddled with the strap and drawstring a bit. There are only 2 photos of that Cornelia Sling style in my files, one from a Fall 1997 catalog and the other from a listing, and I've never seen it in real life but the pics I have look like something's been rearranged.

More opinions about the strap/drawstring would be appreciated.

I completely agree. I don't see the buckle on the front, and that large gold button looks wrong. I think someone added a snap closure.
