Hello all! Can you please tell me if this bag is authentic? I’m thinking about making an offer. Thank you very much!

Item: Vintage coach legacy
Item #: ? -on Poshmark

Seller: issaboutaam

I couldn’t find an item # please let me if I’m just missing it. Thank you!

The "item number"requirement applies mostly to items listed on Ebay.

That bag is FAKE. "J8Y-" has never been used by Coach as a serial number prefix.

Really??? I'm actually shocked it's authentic. Even with no serial number at all? I've seen a couple fakes with the exact same blank spot where a creed should be
Try to use the reply button so we know which post you are referring to. I believe you are talking about the bag in your first post, the one that had a glued in creed that was missing. They printed the numbers on strips of leather and then glued them onto a bag that had a stamped creed. Sometimes people pulled them off. They are usually attached securely and will stay on if no one tries to remove them. I've seen many like this.

Are you sure the bags you've seen that were similar were actually fake? To clarify, creed means the wording, serial number means the number below the creed. There are some authentic bags that have creeds but no numbers but only certain styles.

Sorry - been a long time since I used a forum like this, thought I replied correctly! Hopefully I did this time. Anyway - here's the listing I was thinking of, from another thread about the same style of purse:

That bag is authentic. Did you think it wasn't? Can you link me to the discussion about it?

It is a similar style but not the same style. The hangtags are more recent and didn't come with the bag. The seller is wrong about it being a Bonnie Cashin or from the 60s. It is probably a Bonnie Cashin design but was made after she left Coach. Same time frame as the other one, 1978-1983.

Good afternoon authenticators,
Could you take a look at this Coach bag?

It looks genuine but can't be identified without more information and photos such as measurements and photos of one of the side panels of the bag showing how the strap is attached and also the panel under the front flap with the flap open. It's from the early 1990s.

Hi authenticators, may I have the following authenticated please? Thank you in advance:smile:

1.
Item: Vintage Coach
Listing number: 0019-025
Seller and site where listed: Sitdy, from Mercari
Link: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m51462703085/

2.
Item: Coach crossbody
Listing number: Couldn't see clearly
Seller and site where listed: Sitdy, from Mercari

1- genuine, it looks like a Convertible Clutch from the early 1990s

2- probably OK, but the creed and serial number aren't readable so I'm not comfortable authenticating or identifying it until a clear readable creed and serial number photo is available.
Thank you Hyacinth. I knew the second list couldn't meet the requirement of our forum, thank you so much for accommodating.
I have a comment on the seller, Sitdy.

Someone got ripped off for $69 (plus shipping) on this fake she sold:

I already bought this one, my first attempt at vintage coach, and I'm hoping I didn't get duped. The creed is stamped so lightly it's hard to read (making me nervous), I'll attach a pic but I believe it's J8Y-9988. The rivets on the strap are silver, not brass, which I've seen on a handful of 9988 bags, and now I'm wondering if that's because they're fakes? Please help

Item: "Vintage Coach Saddle Bag"
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: bp144894, Poshmark

Comments: thank you for your expertise !
The serial number starts with J8Y- and that prefix is ALWAYS FAKE, no exceptions. The "Y" plant code has never been used in any US handbag plant. It has ONLY been used for a very short time by a Chinese plant for travel items and would never have the number 8 in front of it.

Silver strap grommets with brass-color buckles are a red flag but can't prove just by itself that the bag is fake since straps can be changed or replaced, but almost every "Coach" we've ever seen with that combination has been fake.

I strongly recommend reading and occasionally re-reading the entire thread called "Salearea Guides" that can be found Pinned at the top of every page in this Authenticate forum. The six Guides include a lot of good information about Coaches, especially vintage bags, and following the six Salearea Guides you'll find the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List Parts One and Two that we've collected here over the last 15 years. The "J8Y-" prefix is included in that List.

Depending how long ago you bought it, you need to follow Poshmark's procedure for getting a refund. Due to their terrible history of allowing fakes to be sold on their site and making it very hard to get refunds, we ALWAYS recommend authenticating every Poshmark purchase of any highly faked brand name items here before buying or committing to buy. You need to act immediately since Poshmark's return window is very small. If Poshmark refuses to refund and if you paid with a credit card you still may be able to get your money back.
Based on the listing indicating you bought it 5 days ago, if you've just received it, you should be within the timeframe when you "not accept" it.

This is the listing you bought:

And this is bp144894's sale of the same bag from November (?). I wonder if that buyer returned it and if bp144894 knows it's fake.

First 2 are authentic.

Second 2 are fake.

Item: Vintage coach
Site: Poshmark
Seller: hayleyface

Can you please tell me if this bag is authentic?! Thank you!
I don't recommend Poshmark but I will state that the style of bag hayleyface is selling is highly faked.

The creed is illegible, the serial number isn't shown and if she copied the serial number correctly, the bag is fake.
