Hi lovelies, could you authenticate this bag for me please?

Item: Prarie
Listing number: doesn’t have one
Seller and site where listed: selinaorrell listed on Depop UK
Link: https://depop.app.link/9JOQwERx0mb
Comments: I’m adding a picture of the creed and the brassware on the turnlock because the listing didn’t have these. I think the item is fake but I’m hopeful it’s not. I bathed it and it didn’t get darker. The leather doesn’t feel as amazing as my others.

thank you View attachment 5304403View attachment 5304417

It's fake, sorry. Get your money back. The serial number is invalid, "P" has never been a valid month code. The turnlock wasn't made by Coach either.

It's always best to authenticate before buying, or if that's not possible, don't do any work to the bag until it's been authenticated. Sellers will often refuse to accept a return for a refund if the bag isn't in the same condition as when it was sent, even if the condition is an improvement.

Dear authenticators

bought this for myself but after receiving it, it smells and feels like plastic so just want to make sure

Seller: karenbune

Sorry but it's almost impossible to authenticate small items like that. There are no identifiable details that prove it's a Coach. A single stamp really isn't enough. Not only that, but almost all "leather" Coach items made since the early 2000s, both bags and accessories, have some sort of plastic coating on the leather or fabric. The way something smells doesn't prove or disprove anything. It's PROBABLY genuine but that's all I can say for sure.

Thank you for your time and expertise Hyacinth, really appreciate it. The seller has refunded me the money because it arrived in such bad condition, with a pool of nail polish at the bottom and so much ink you’ll think it was used as an ink pot. Couldn’t help myself, had to give it a clean. I’ll use it as my rehab equipment bag. Thank you again :)

Thank you very much @Hyacinth, is there any indication which decade she’s from?

It's from the late-ish 1980s. The Station Bag was a modification of an earlier Bag called a Shoulder Pouch Large that was discontinued around 1985 but brought back in 1987 as the Station Bag but with the same style number, 5130. The earlier style didn't have any inside pocket at all, and a few very early Station Bags didn't either, the creed was stamped on the panel under the front outside pocket. Once the inside pocket was added very soon after the "new" bag was introduced, the creed was stamped on the inside pocket but sometimes the employees would stamp it on the front panel out of habit. We've seen it both ways.

So with a good idea of when the new version came out and with the details on the creed I'd guesstimate that yours was made in late 1987 or early 1988 since it still has the NYC creed which was changed some time in early 1988. Hope that's close enough!

@Hyacinth I love this learning journey, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge so unselfishly xx

Would you please help me authenticate this handbag? I am in the process of rehabbing and will not if it is not authentic. It measures 10 1/2" x 3" x 8". Thank you in advance. I'm in love with the leather.

Thank you so much! Could you have a date or type of bag?

It's from the Lightweight line so keep that in mind for your rehab. Style 4050, just called a Shoulder Bag and made in the late 1980s. From a 1988 catalog:
