Comments: Authentic (I hope so because I bought it lol)? I was looking for a cheap bag to try to rehab and this one doesn't look like it needs a lot of rehab experience to make it gorgeous. How hard are the straps to find for these? Hoping this was a decent buy.

Both are genuine.

The Colebrooke Case 5181 was made in 1997 and is a small briefcase, approx. 13 x 11 inches.

Style 5206 is a Full Flap Messenger Brief and was made in 1999.

On the 5206 make sure the dividers are secure inside the bag. I have seen a few where the sides ripped out. (the photo with the added binder is confusing and she should not have added it). This is a nice, heavy duty briefcase.

Belated thanks to specialist consultant Hyacinth for the verdict and to noshoepolish for the caveat re: the dividers.

If the seller is reading the creed correctly, the bag is fake. 9135 is commonly faked and the fakes usually have the "correct" style number.

Are you using the Daria48 Fake Numbers List here at tPF? Obviously, not all fakes are on that list, but it's a good source for a lot of the invalid numbers in classic and vintage bags.

J8H- and J8Y- are ALWAYS fake, no exceptions. J8P- bags are fake only when the creed says the bag was made in the US. J8P- bags made in Costa Rica are usually genuine. Searching tPF for both full serial numbers and serial prefixes will usually dig up some of the less common fake combinations.

Thank you to you both...yes I actually sent the seller a screenshot of the information about J8H fakes to him. He is taking both back to the consignment store he got them from
