Comments: is there supposed to be two different coloured threads? Also the piping isn’t finished all the way up under the flap but ends awkwardly imo (see pic 2). The studs at the sides also look larger than what i think they’re supposed to be (see pic 3). The strap also doesn’t feel as robust to me but perhaps that’s just a modification/replacement strap and the main bag is real(?). Do let me know if more pics are required. Thank you!

The first one is genuine, Companion Bag from the 1980s. The Irregular stamp was put on by Coach if they saw a very small imperfection with the bag. So far we've never been able to find a problem.

The second ia also genuine.

I would love to know if this is authentic or not. My mom purchased a 2nd hand/consignment store and this was in stock not put out. I've tried searching this number, and Google as many variations I can think of, and have yet to see anything similar. Thank you.

Wait for confirmation from @BeenBurned, but it's FAKE. Coach serial numbers will NEVER be just 4 digits. Nor will genuine Coaches ever have full C patterns on both the outside and inside. I hope she can get her money back, it's a felony in the US to sell counterfeit items.

That style number 5031 belongs ONLY to a pebbled leather satchel.

Thank you, we are located in Canada and she definitely did not buy all the stock per item, so she wouldn't lose money on this.

Consider it confirmed. The bag is a dreadful fake.

Whether she bought all the stock or just one item, she should return this item as it's counterfeit.

FYI, whether the store is aware or not of the item being counterfeit, the fact is that fakes are illegal in Canada and as in the US, it's a sellers' and store's responsibility to make sure items are genuine before they can put them up for sale.
