I just want to thank everyone that shared their info on the tiny Coral bag from Etsy. (I don't want to quote and may be miss somebody).

Good to know that in the future if I find another one, I can go ahead and purchase/bid on it, after asking here if authentic first, of course ;)

Item: Vintage Coach Station Bag, black, No-C8I-5130

Listing number: eBay item number:301619323545

Seller: abwitcht

Comments: Hello! just received this from ebay seller abwitcht, I'm pretty sure it's okay, but wanted to double check the creed and serial number, (i thought Coach didn't use 'I' generally to avoid confusion) Any help would be appreciated! Thanks SO much!

Coach usually doesn't use "i" as a month code, but "i" is a valid plant code for Turkey. The bag is genuine.

You're welcome!

lol! My inner nerd is coming out! The reason I know is because I went on a search for Bleeckers. It is hard to tell some of the colors apart so I got used to reading the creeds to learn if it was black or ink. All the colors except black have creeds that state "individually burnished," I guess because if you burnish black, it just looks worn. I'd see listing for black bags that the seller described as burnished and I thought "why don't you read the creed?!"

I think the bag in the listing is probably really black. When I carried my ink (blue) Bleecker, I asked 10 people what color it was and they all said black. It looks blue to me.

Thanks for the detailed info! I already have a black one, different style, but the tattersall lining.
Good old Coach: navy/black, gray/black, brown/ black, etc!

Thank you!

I wonder if the seller has deliberately blurred the photos of the serial number. It almost looks like it starts with J4B- which is totally wrong for the style and the lining. The buckles don't look right either, and if that IS a 4 in the serial number, that year code is for EIGHT YEARS before that style even came out. And although the bag looks like style number 9718, that's NOT the style number in the serial number.

I would insist on a large, clear, readable photo of the creed patch ands serial number. But based just on what I'm seeing, I personally would not buy that bag unless the serial number codes check out. DON'T pay for it without a photo we can use to authenticate it.

And BTW, DON'T mention any of this to the seller. Just tell them you need to see a clear picture of the creed and serial number and need to be able to read everything in the photo.

Regarding the theory of whether peachpi purposely blurred the serial number, I vote that she did.

She has 2 current Coach bag listings, a current keychain and several completed listings, ALL of which have pictures that are clear enough to read and authenticate the items. To further confirm this, notice how clear the picture is before the blurry one.

Why hide the serial number?

The first time the bag was listed (ending on May 17), she had the style number 9338 in the title. Subsequent relisted items omitted the style number.

Would 9338 have been made in 1994?

Just to add- the style number in the bag could be 9338 which belongs to a Legacy Small Crescent, but again, there's no way any bag with that style would ever have a 1994 year code, and I'm sure that's a 4 in the serial prefix, both the regular and Small Legacy Crescents weren't even made until 2001. Even if the style number is right for the style, the rest of the codes aren't.
