Your reply posted but the authenticators here decided long ago not to acknowledge individual thanks because it makes the thread huge. We appreciate the thanks but please don't feel bad if we don't say Thank you for a Thank you. I hope everyone realizes that we appreciate it but it just weighs down this thread, which is large enough already. It already includes more than 60,000 posts, and if we thanked everyone who said Thank you that would probably add 15,000 more.

I purchased this bag on Ebay. The bag has been shipped already. Since I am new to the world of vintage Coach bags, I had completed limited research before purchasing a plethora of bags. I have now read the SaleArea guides and am probably a little nervous regarding my purchases.

Authentic.

The only way I'd recommend donating would be if you cut the creed from the pocket and removed the hangtag and any other "Coach" markings. Otherwise, it keeps a fake in circulation waiting to fool another buyer.

Destroying and trash fill landfills so if you mark up the bag as "FAKE - NOT FOR RESALE," you could use it for a child's dress-up or other utilitarian use.

Hello! I am new to the world of designer purses. I received a coach bag as a gift and now I am hooked. Quality is exceptional! Forever in search of a bargain I found a coach purse, used, on the site thread up.com I received the purse and I am questioning its authenticity.I could not find a serial number and I didn’t see YKK on any of the zippers. I think the color is cobalt for vivid blue. The closest style I could find is a gallery or Taylor. The purse is 12” x 10” x 6” not including the handles. Can someone help me confirm this is a fake or not?

It's genuine, from around 1991-92. The seller's measurements are a bit smaller than Coach's, but no 2 people ever seem to measure a bag exactly the same. It's a Dakota Ranger bag, style 4201. The Dakotas were the direct ancestors of the Coach Sheridans. They're two of my all-time favorite Coach lines. Like the Dooneys they were "inspired by", the leather is stiffer than the softer cowhide used in other vintage Coaches, but they're almost indestructible.




There was an almost identical smaller version called a Dakota Rider, but the shape of the flap is slightly different. The larger Ranger also has a gusseted pocket under the flap.
