Just a heads-up on that red bag from andromeda_collections -

Does anyone else think that it's been dyed, or maybe painted? I'm looking at the strap edges in the first photo.

The seller specifies "No returns" and has several Neg and Neutral Feedbacks because of Coaches that smelled bad.

The red shade doesn't look right for the year either. It looks a bit too "candy apple". The late 80s-early 90s reds I remember seemed to have a bit more orange or vermillion in them. And I'm always suspicious when vintage bags seem too shiny.
Thank you, Hyacinth for looking into the bag and the seller! I, too felt the red color looked a bit too much, especially with its high gloss finish. I'll check with the seller directly about the color.
I think it is possible the photos are just oversaturated. There were two 80s reds I remember, one brighter and one darker, but neither as pink and saturated as that one.

A search of my files shows that the plant code "R" in the serial number was being used exclusively by a plant in Thailand from 1999 to 2003. It would not have been used in a bag with a creed that said it was made in the US.

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the details from a known genuine example of that style number 9165 for comparison with yours. But I DO have examples of travel bags from the Thai plant from before AND after the date code shown in your bag - M0R- which stands for December 2000 at the R plant - and the details of the serial stamping isn't even close. That plant also doesn't seem to have made any handbags, just travel and business items of leather or a leather and fabric combination.

Here are genuine year 2000 Thai plant bags, February 2000 thru August 2001. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge:

This is closest in age to the date in yours, September 2000:

Sorry, I'm afraid yours is counterfeit.

One thing I've noticed about this style is that authentic bags have the creed printed on the leather above the pocket, while most counterfeits have it on the pocket.

Good point. I forgot about that detail and didn't take the time to look for more 9165s on Ebay. But I just did and found at least 2, with genuine D plant serial number stampings and the creed above the actual pocket instead of right on the front of it. These show how the creed should be stamped on that style:
and

9165_CORRECT creed stamped ABOVE pocket-a.jpg

The larger 9166 version of that Legacy Drawstring has the same detail:

This shows both of the pocket panels:
