Wow! Someone is a good saver of all the extras!

The bag is authentic.

On that bag, the serial number was originally stamped on a leather patch. The patch was glued to the creed under the text. Sometimes (as in this case), the patch fell off.
Thank you so much! I am excited to bring this little beauty back to life and start using it. I am in love with the color! I can't find much information on it.

Good evening! I was hoping someone could help me authenticate this Coach basic bag #9455. It's a Maroon/Wine color. The creed doesn't have a number. One that's visible to me. I've read thats not a deal breaker. It came with this super cute literature. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the front of that little catalog is a date which, if it actually did come with the bag, gives you an idea of when it was sold. I believe it says 8005, which would be May 1980, which is in the time frame of those glued in serial numbers. The color was called burgundy.

There's one very small detail in the serial number that concerns me. Can you please take an "overhead" photo of the top handle showing the entire top, end to end? Also A photo of the back of the turnlock plate, the one on the back of the flap where the prongs hold the turnlock to the bag, and a full-length photo of the inside pocket showing both ends of the zipper AND the outer edges of that pocket on both sides of the zipper ends? Thank you,

I'd like the other authenticators to take a look at the "No" in the serial and compare it to other comps, thanks!

I saw that post and passed on it because I was uncomfortable with it but not yet ready to state an opinion. It looked "off" but wanted to wait for others' opinions and to see if they had the same questions as I. At the time, I didn't prepare side-by-sides but having done so, I don't believe the bag is authentic.

Interestingly, I had a lot of trouble finding 1998 B examples with the exception of one (shown below) but that one uses a different creed.

From what I'm seeing, the creed on the bag in question has many of the same characteristics as those of the fakes.

In question vs. authentic 1999 B plant:

I believe that bag is fake.

If you're the buyer, CANCEL!

ETA: Same bag was already "sold" and the seller was TOLD it's fake:

and this one, different color but same s/n, also fake and also told it was fake.

Another probably fake sold:

And in fact, @Tbillups bought that same fake as you bought and canceled. It was discussed here:
