Good afternoon, authenticators!

I am asking for your expertise on this bag I found at the swap meet earlier. I am hoping it is a Helen's Legacy duffle 9953 but some things give me pause:

  • Mainly, the strap has silver grommets. It could have been replaced, but the leather is a perfect match to the bag, both in color and hand feel.
  • The creed stamp seems to have popped up in fake bags.
Thanks so much!

Here are some detailed photos I just took:

Sorry, it's fake.

Darn! Looks and feels really legit though. I guess I'll just try to clean it up and find some use for it around the house...
Thanks once again for your help, whateve!
I'm sorry you were fooled.

If you ever plan to donate it, please cut the creed from the pocket and remove the hangtag so there's nothing that says that it might be Coach. That will save another buyer from getting scammed.

Thanks, BeenBurned! Yeah, I would not want that to happen to anyone else. Just curious: Aside from the strap grommets, what identifies this as fake? Anyway, the leather is so nice I will find some use for it around the house or garage. For example...

As you know, an authentic bag wouldn't have silver grommets on a brass hardware bag. A 1990s classic style also wouldn't have solid brass on the hardware. The font of the numbers, as well as the spacing and certain other things on the creed, are wrong. The shape of the inside pocket is wrong. There are problems with the construction of the zipper pull.

That's an awesome "upcycled" use of the fake bag! It stays out of a landfill and out of the 2nd-hand store!
