But it had a lot more fakes in the hands of unsuspecting buyers.

If all it took to figure out if a Coach was authentic was a zipper, we wouldn't need authenticators. Remember the Golden Rule Of Authenticating - "Anything a maker can make, a faker can fake."

Good idea. If there aren't any Coach logos stamped anywhere into the leather, then it's almost 100 percent sure it's not a Coach. Their smaller leather goods (SLGs) will always have their name stamped permanently into the leather. If the only "proof" that it's a Coach is the hangtag, that's not enough, it's disgustingly easy to add a real (or fake) Coach hangtag to a generic bag. That's why they're useless for authentication purposes.

A closeup of the zipper wouldn't prove a thing. The name on a zipper has NO connection to Coach authenticity.

My concern is that I've never seen that style of bag with that lining before. I'm not comfortable trying to just guess. Please wait for more opinions.

There have been similar style bag (a top handle pouches) but they had solid lining and an embossed logo on the front of the bag. While this doesn't mean it never happened, I've never seen a top handle pouch from 2010-ish with that lining.

If you can ask the seller for a crystal clear picture of the lining (showing the weave), that would help.

I would like to get a small duffel type bag to store things inside larger bags and have had my eye on these little Costa Rica 9844s. That other one was just a tad smaller and cheaper so I was curious.
