IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

You forgot the seller ID of the ebay listing you linked: misscooper18

I have several comments.

First, with regard to the listing you've asked about, the pictures in the listing aren't adequate for authentication purposes.

When you say you "found the link on FB," do you mean that this seller was selling the bag on Facebook and also included her ebay link? Or is it another seller with a similar looking bag?

Secondly, I'm not comfortable with misscooper18. I'm not sure which pictures in her listings are her own and which (if any) belong to other sellers. Listings have different backgrounds and different photographing styles so it's difficult to know if what you see will be what you get.

One example of a confusing (and misleading?) listing is this one. Is the buyer getting the red item or the tan well-used one that's a completely different style? Item specifics show 'red' as the color but I'm not sure!

If you're interested in that bag from that seller, refer to the first post at the top of each page of the authentication thread and/or post 1, page 1 of the thread for the pictures that are necessary.

Verify that the pictures are of the actual item.

Seller posted this in the Rogue club thread.

Only 1 and 3 are Willis bags. #2 is a station bag, #4 is a Murphy bag. All are authentic.

Before recommending that you spend money on a professional authentication, I'd prefer that you post pictures and the information here to either confirm that you need it or verify authenticity.

If the bag was purchased on ebay and if it's fake (which we don't know yet), ebay doesn't usually require a letter in order to dispute the purchase.

See either post 1 page 1 of the thread or the first post at the top of the page for the information we need and post pictures here.

Hi BeenBurned thank you for replying. I'm asking regarding this post here:

After asking about my bag here, I've gone to the Coach boutique here in Malaysia upon looking at my bag, they just shook their head provided they did point out the differences in my bag like the lining and rivets is not smooth enough and the fabrication is quiet rough but they cannot provide a letter to me as it is their policy.

After that, I have talk to the seller and she still refuse with my answer. I've asked her to go to the boutique with me so that she can have a clear picture about the bag and she refuse, also she won't refund me. I also asked her to tell me from which outlet did she buy the bag, and she said she buy it online from coach. I asked for a receipt or any proof of transaction then she said her team in us buy it from outlet (again) that when buying in bulk they cannot provide a gift receipt for each bag bla bla bla. She cannot provide me with 1 solid answer and just keep refusing.

The choice that I have next is to go to the tribunal court here in Malaysia to fight for my rights against this seller and the lawyer asked me to get something in black and white as it is the way for me to win the case. I did show the result of authentication that I have here but the phrase 'in my opinion' cannot be consider as a solid answer unless it is stated without hesitation that 'the bag is not authentic because.....'

I do call the coach customer service and the answer that i get is the same with what the boutique had told me. And they said like it is my fault buying from a personal seller. (please do know that coach Malaysia didn't have a delivery service (not until recently when the restriction movement 3 order have been enforce here in Malaysia) and i live 3 hours away from the nearest boutique)

This seller is impossible to talk to. I paid 280.37 USD for the bag and for me it is not a small amount for a fake bag.

Also here i attach another picture, can you see the blue plastic tape residue at the handle hardware? I've never seen a blue tape like that in coach bag before.

Hi all. May I ask where can I get someone or an organization or anything that can provide me with a black and white letter telling that the coach bag that i received from seller is fake.

I have asked authenticators here and go to the boutique and compare my bag with other and I believe that I received a fake bag.

Please someone advise me on this

I have several comments:

1. Coach is the LAST place to go to ask about authenticity. Their employees aren't trained to authenticate and in fact, doing so is strictly against the company policy. They can get fired for doing it.

Employees are trained to SELL items that are currently in their stores.

It's unlikely they have much experience with older items and if it's an outlet store, the employees probably aren't familiar with boutique items and if it's a boutique store, employees don't usually know much about outlet items. In fact, their computer systems don't even talk to each other so one can't search the other's items through their systems.

2. Coach employees have been known to purposely lie to customers who come in with a third-party purchase. They want you to buy from their stores and aren't happy when customers go online.

3. Coach also dislikes hates resellers so if you say you bought online, they will often (knowingly) lie, saying you should have bought from them. Never mind that often items aren't available in their stores and that's why customers have to buy from 3rd parties.

4. Coach doesn't provide letters of authenticity or non-authenticity, nor do most companies. That's why independent authentication services exist.

5. Unless you know what to look for when examining a bag and often, unless you are comparing apples to apples (identical items), it's difficult to authenticate yourself by going to the store.

6. There's no way to comment on whether you have a fake or a genuine bag based on the 2 pictures you've posted. I can't even tell what style bag it is. Again, read post 1 for the pictures we need. (And if you found this seller online, we need an ID (facebook, ebay, instagram, etc) and a link to the listing.

An authentication company is going to need the pictures too if you choose to go that route.

7. You said you paid $280.37 for the bag so does that mean that the seller is in the US since you paid in USD?

8. As for authentication companies, for newer styles, you want to be sure to use a company that does Coach and has authenticator(s) who know the newer styles. Some of these styles are very closely faked and there are minute details that have to be looked at.

My recommendation (if you go that route) is Authenticate4U.com. THey also have a Facebook page and communication is said to be better through FB.
