Two more if you please -- and thank you so much.

Item: "Small Authentic Burgundy - Red COACH Hand Bag - Purse - VGC"
Seller: check-charlie
Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Authentic-Burgundy-Red-COACH-Hand-Bag-Purse-VGC/264593005410
Notes: No serial # on the creed, but I think this is of the type that was too small for a serial.

Item: "COACH WRISTLET BLUE AND WHITE SATIN COSMETIC BAG"
Seller: ssherry1953
Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-WRISTLET-BLUE-AND-WHITE-SATIN-COSMETIC-BAG/254477885513
Notes: No photo of the creed, and the listing expires soon, but I asked for a photo of it anyway in case she relists it. Also, I know this seller has been reported to mix fakes with genuines per a search on her ID on the forums so I'm being very cautious with this.

Hi all, just curious about pouches like these as I'd like to find one. This one is clearly priced too high but what I am curious about is if these are supposed to have a hang tag (I've seen some listed without where the seller claims not all small wallets or pouches were issued with them), if they are supposed to have a creed patch (I have seen some with and some without), and if they have to have a Coach stamp on the bottom right corner (also seen a couple without but most I see do). Is there another style number other than 7170? Thanks in advance.

Item: Small zip pouch

NOT all pouches have hangtags. And whether or not a used or even a new item has a hangtag or not doesn't prove anything. Hangtags can be and often are removed, changed, stolen or lost.

I can't remember off-hand of seeing ANY wallets that have hangtags although there may be a few.

VERY FEW pouches have creeds and usually the one ones that do would be Special or Limited Edition items.

I've seen maybe 6 or 8 genuine wallet styles with creeds. And that covers almost 40 years of production. A wallet with a creed, like a Pouch, is more likely to be fake than genuine.

Most classic and vintage pouches or wallets DO have a Coach stamp but not always in the lower right corner. And many fakes have them too.

There are almost always going to be exceptions to any so-called Rule, including everything mentioned above. But remember that there are almost NO "One RULE to Rule Them All" situations with Coach, you can count their all-inclusive "rules" on the fingers of one hand, The only one you can ALWAYS depend on and that has no apparent exceptions is that Coach never made handbags (or wallets or briefcases) in Korea. They DID make a few clothing items and sample or pilot travel bags, but AFAIK never handbags. So forget trying to figure out the "rules" - there really aren't any, no matter what those useless online "authenticity guides" claim.

THER ARE NO 'RULES" THAT COVER ALL STYLES, ITEM TYPES, STYLE NAMES, TIME PERIODS OR ANY OTHER CATEGORY. Every single style can only be compared to another genuine example of exactly the same style, same style number, and the same production time period. Don't ever start comparing apples and oranges. Coach makes AND changes their own rules as they go along.

If you want to know if something's genuine, ask about that one specific item. No other styles or comparisons mean a darned thing.

The Pouch in that particular listing is genuine, from the mid-1990s. But there are plenty of fake Pouches in that and other similar styles too. The simpler an item's design and details are, the easier it is to fake.

I don't have names or numbers for either one.
The first one is genuine, early 2000 decade. The second one is PROBABLY genuine but again, I don't know what to compare it to since it's not in my files, most smaller items like that weren't even on my radar and I never bothered to save photos. But the pattern-matching and hangtag details seem a bit too accurate for it to have been a fake from the mid-2000 decade when it probably would have been made.

Hi guys I was just wondering if someone could authenticate my coach bag? It has the YKK on the zipper and very good stitching. I just don’t know since I bought it on amazon.

Hi all, I have a couple items I was hoping could get authenticated. Thank you so much in advance for your time.

Item: "coach purse - Tan" (looks to be a Coach Carly)
Seller: kriau_65
Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/293419480744
Notes: I have asked for a clearer picture of the creed but not gotten a response back yet; I know authentication likely hinges upon that but if you see any other red flags I'd appreciate it.

Item: "Coach bag" (looks to be an Ergo Hobo XL)
Seller: bwdpar-25
Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-bag/312942077222

Carly, even the leather Carly styles, were one of the most faked lines of bags in Coach's history, and I'm not comfortable authenticating any of them without a clear creed and serial photo. I'd also like to see at least one photo of one of the sides of the bag with all the hardware and turnlocks.

The Ergo looks OK.

Thanks for this info! I am waiting to hear back from a seller on a listing that does not have good photos, so I thought I would ask so that when I do hear back, I could maybe just make my own judgement. I thought perhaps creeds were attached to those slim flat pouches after a certain year maybe. I keep forgetting that there is not much we can depend on in terms of general rules of thumb. Argh! f I hear back from her and can get more photos I will link it here.

The item shown in the listing is fine.

There are several different styles. I believe they all originally came with hang tags attached to the zipper pulls. Some of the details can vary depending on when and where made.

7151 is a Berkley chunky case (My item had a creed w/o serial number and a hang tag.)
7165 is a leather chunky case (My item had a creed w/o serial number and a hang tag.)
7170 is a skinny case (leather) with logo on lower front. (My item had a creed w/o serial number and a hang tag.)

There was variation in the pouches and as evidence, my own 7170 creed differs from the one in the listing. For comparison:
7170 Dominican Rep. creed:

7170 Costa Rica creed:

Thank you so much, @Hyacinth! I really appreciate the detail.

Thank you @Hyacinth! I had no idea the Carly was so faked, but that makes sense because it was a popular style. Thank you so much for the tips and I will ask for additional photos.

This is helpful! Thanks so much. I think I may need to make sure all three features are present then. Either way I will post it here if I find one I like.

Don't rely on yourself. They are really hard to authenticate! I think that the ones with the creeds are probably later. I have one from around 1996, based on the color, that has a US creed.

Great find! It appears authentic. Why can't I ever find something like this at a thrift store?!
I’ve been popping in to the thrift store by my office and then another on the way home almost every day this week! Why? Cause ever since I’ve been following the coach rehab thread I’m determined to find vintage bags to rehab! Not super cheap for the thrift store at $24.99 but at least I got my fix!
