Dear authenticators, I am writing to have this bag authenticated, please.
Item: Ergo Bag 9033
Listing number: I have this myself. Bought at thrift store.
Seller: N/A
Link: N/A
View attachment 4640993 View attachment 4640994 View attachment 4640995 Comments: Number D6J-9033. Measurements approx. 9” x 12” x 3 1/4”. At first, I thought that it was authentic. Then I read the Salearea guide and questioned myself because it says “United States” and it is a J plant code. I would like to see if I have learned from my professors in authentication in this forum— If it is authentic, it was made in April 1996, I believe. Please let me know if you need other pictures. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Yes, you were totally right in questioning the J part in ANY handbag with a Made in the United States creed. Handbags didn't have J plant codes until they were made in China in the early 2000s. This is a REAL D6J- serial prefix:
1996_J-plant-D6J-0964-suede coat-sm-a.jpg
1996_J-plant-US-Beresford Coat-D6J-0964-d.jpg

Not only is a D6J- serial prefix always invalid in handbags (D6J- was ONLY ever used in coats and jackets, and that plant did not make handbags), but the style 9033 Ergo and in fact all the other original Ergo styles, weren't even introduced until Autumn of 1997. The fake D6J- serial prefix indicates something was made in April 1996.

This is fascinating. There is always something to learn here. I really appreciate you all doing this and providing this history.

As long as I blew it with the previous one, would you please have a gander at this one. I’m glad I’m not being graded on this.

Item: Coach Slim Duffle? 9816
Listing number: I have this myself. Bought at thrift store.
Seller: N/A
Link: N/A
Comments: Number F9C-9816. The height is about 9 3/8” (not counting strapduffle bag - 1 (1).jpg duffle bag - 1.jpg duffle bag - 2 (1).jpg duffle bag - 3.jpg ). I took the height measurement from the center of the bag down to the bottom piping. The width (measuring the bottom) is approx. 9 1/2”. Measuring the bottom depth: approx. 3 1/2”. My flash is kind of strong in the pics; please let me know if you need other pictures. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help. I’ll return the bag.

I have took the best picture I can. I can’t see a small tag in there though. Just the creed patch.
thank you for helping me. Sorry I’ve never done this before so I’m sorry for the repeat post. I got it from eBay with a small window to return it and I don’t want to keep it if it’s a fake. I wanted a small bag as my LV Montaigne MM is a little big for days out.
I hope this is a good enough photo (it took about 15 attempts )
This is the link for the bag.
