Is that the 5080 Brief Bag? The one that looks a lot like a 5170 Diplomat Brief? From what I can see, the Dip has 2 compartments in the body with flat front pockets, and the Brief Bag has a single compartment with 2 gusseted front pockets but the gussets are along the center of the front and not on the outside edges, if that makes any sense.

Does the one from GW have silver-color D-rings on the handle? They look lighter than the rivets holding the handle. I've never seen either of those in person so I'm not sure what's different about the handle. A replacement makes sense, that handle must have had a lot of wear and darkening after 35+ years.
Yes, I think it is 5080. Most early briefcases have handles constructed similar to Willis, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CO...338672?hash=item4b6ee96cb0:g:lWQAAOSwAeBd0W-a
and this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Tan-...696838?hash=item444a33fb86:g:ONYAAOSwC61dH4tT

The one at Goodwill looks different.
You can see from the ad photo that the 5080 should have a Willis type handle. It would be sewn along the edging on both sides. It would taper so the edging almost reaches the center at the ends. The one at Goodwill is indented in the center, has a line of stitching down the center, has narrower edging that doesn't taper. I'm not sure if there is any stitching on the edging.

Yep, I couldn't find any photos other than the catalog photos and they weren't much help. Thanks!

Wasn't able buy the last one I posted
Thank you for authenticating for us the bag lovers!
Item: Coach Willis in British Tan
Listing: http://trsy.co/26382537
Seller: Tradesy Eileen Dobney
That bag is authentic however the seller has 2 (very obvious) fake Coach bags listed on the Hall of Shame thread.
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...oach-fakes-here.824098/page-437#post-33451537

Also, a large number of her other (authentic) Coach bags have fake hangtags attached to them.

Beware.

Hi everyone,
I found this large Coach Borough Bag on eBay.de. Would you be so kind to authenticate? Thank you very much!

Item: large Coach Borough Bag in black pebbled leather
Listing number: 193215103784 on eBay.de
Seller: sbargenda
Link: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Handtasche-...103784?hash=item2cfc848328:g:3qkAAOSwDGJd0v~6
Comments: I was wondering about the placement of the shoulder strap. It is attached directly to the handles and there is not possibility to attach it to the sides of the bag. Is this ok?
I have received 2 additional photos from the seller: One is with the creed, the other one is with details from the bottom corners. The number on the creed is C1493-28160.

Edit to my previous post:
I'm thinking that this might also be the medium size Borough, not the large one. I'm a bit confused with the sizes of the medium and large Borough bags. This one has approx. 13,8 x 9,1 x 4,9. But it looks so big on the dress form on eBay.

Based on the pictures you've posted, the bag looks good.

HELP, Could I get this bag authenticated? I just bought this from Mercari and after inspecting it I noticed the brass buckles say "solid brass" on them. Also the key fob inside isn't marked Coach which I've seen some that do and don't so I'm not sure if that is a tell for being fake. Anyway, I'm thinking it's not authentic and I would like to get my $ back if it is not real.
  • Item Name (if you know it): Metropolis
  • Creed Number: D7M-9087
  • Measurements: 9" x 8" x 3" with an outside slip pocket, inside zip pocket, and key fob that isn't marked
  • Other: the interior key fob snap is not marked at all
  • Link (if available): bought from Mercari listing no longer available

Yes, it's fake. Good catch. What is the name of the Mercari seller?

Sorry, it's fake. The serial font and prefix spacing is wrong for any D7M- prefix, and the "solid brass" buckle stamp had been discontinued for at least 5 years except for a few very rare examples from a different plant. As you also said, the genuine keyfob should have the Coach name stamped on the snap.

Here's a genuine example of a D7M- serial number:
