I'm certain that this station bag is real. An anomaly, but real. I didnt have access to the 'Donated' picture until today. I was the person who asked the question on ebay fashion. BTW, this bag was made in Italy with an 'M7D' stamp.

I agree with BeenBurned and Whateve, it's completely fake. There's simply nothing right about it, from the Coach logo to the puffy creed to the invalid plant code for Italy to the invalid font for any bag out of the D palnt in the mid to late 1990s. The outlet stamp was added to a fake bag, probably when it was returned to a Coach store for a refund.

What makes you think it's genuine???

I don't have photos of an H7D- serial but I can post photos of a G7D- and a J7D-, the months right before and after the creed you posted, if you want to see them, just ask. Both have United States creeds. The ONLY codes ever used for the Italy plant were "E" and starting in 2006, "12".

ETA - here's a Completed listing with a genuine H7D- serial:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-ICON-H7D-9804-BLACK-LEATHER-DRAW-STRING-BUCKET-BAG-TOTE-PURSE-SATCHEL-/283639342114?hash=item420a38e422:g:ymgAAOSw5iZdaKQ~&nma=true&si=rPhKrNR9AH9zb1jV%2FPrYqdP7H3o%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

And here's a Completed Listing for a style 4316 with a genuine serial number. Note that the creed doesn't use the Sonoma creed wording with "gentle tumbling..." just the standard glove tanned cowhide creed.

That was one of the examples I'd posted in post #42822
showing a bullet stamp (genuine or fake? I don't know) demonstrating that bullets aren't necessarily proof of authenticity.

I think the bullet stamp in the fake H7D- serial creed might be fake. It looks larger than the standard stamp, unless the creed patch is much smaller than usual.

Hi y'all. I know a bit about early vintage coaches, but I've never seen one quite like this and am wondering if any of y'all know what the name is or anything. I'm pretty sure it's a Coach given the quality, but there's some really good fakes out there. I'm just having trouble finding any info on this bag too. It's about 10.5" wide along the bottom and 9.5" wide on the narrower top. 7" tall, 3.5" depth. THANK YOU!!

Hello,
I have a small shoulder or crossbody bag I purchased online (not expensive). It was billed as a Coach, but I have some concerns. It has no Creed Patch or Imprint except the hangtag (slightly crooked now that I look. It is made of full-grain leather (I would describe as "beefy") Here are pics: IMG_1043.jpg IMG_1059.jpg IMG_1043.jpg IMG_1059.jpg IMG_1061.jpg IMG_1044.jpg IMG_1057.jpg IMG_1045.jpg IMG_1051.jpg IMG_1052.jpg IMG_1049.jpg IMG_1058.jpg IMG_1046.jpg
Things that caught my eye were the several skipped stitches (one last photo, one on backside of strap), the backstitching done on the attachment of the flap extender (for lack of a better term), the strap-keeper that is metal rather than leather, the eye of the turnlock that has a gap of leather between the front and back, the hangtag that has the embossing crooked on the tag, the stitching on the turnlock patch that runs over itself and is not lined up with the shape.

Some of these issues could have resulted from repairs.

And it would have to be pre-creed?

My best guess, looking at all of this, that it is not a Coach bag and someone just stuck a hangtag on it that says Coach.. But I am not that experienced with this.

Thanks so much.

Kathy

It wasn't made by Coach. It is similar to some Coach designs but not exactly. You're right, someone just stuck a hangtag on it.

The bag is "not as described" and you have a legitimate dispute if you opt to go that route. You'll win the dispute easily.

If necessary, refer the seller to the posts here. If opts to take the bag back, she should remove the fake hangtag and resell what is a generic no-name bag.

Is there a link to the listing?

Just won! Can anyone verify please before I pay?

Comment: what's the official color name for this blue?

It's not in any of my catalogs but it mnight be Periwinkle. They also had a medium blue shade that they just called Blue. It looks ok.

It could possibly be Glacier, shown in this Holiday 1997 catalog pic (different bag, obviously):

Here's a Fall 1997 catalog pic showing a Blue Legacy Shopper:

And here's Periwinkle:

I got it from Poshmark, but the seller even said it was an estate item and she wasn't sure of its age and could not confirm its authenticity. It was under $30. I will give it a nice rehab and sell it as just a leather purse. (without a Coach Hangtag). Thank you so much. I also messaged the seller with your results and told her about the Purse Forum as a resource.Brown not-Coach bag listing.jpg

Thank you for your assistance!

It's illegal to sell fakes and it's a seller's responsibility to verify and confirm authenticity before listing any item. That's the law although many sellers mistakenly believe that if they claim ignorance, they're allowed to sell.

I have to say that based on your post to the seller, you're a lot more tolerant and understanding than I would have been. For the price you paid ($31.79 with shipping) is a lot for a fake. There are genuine Coaches that sell for less than $25!

The rehabbers can advise but it's my understanding that the leather on fakes isn't as good in quality as Coach leather and may not rehab as well.

ETA: Although she claims it's a no return item, she broke the law in selling it and her "policy" wouldn't stand.

Hi authenticators,

Could someone authenticate this keychain?

Item: legacy white heart padlock charm (not sure of official name or style number)
Seller: eBay, us2014_elah
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-White-gold-Heart-Lock-Key-Purse-Charm-Keychain-Fob/264497732857?_trkparms=ispr=1&hash=item3d954b1cf9:g:-XgAAOSwaShdo4Py
Comments: not sure if all details needed for authentication are in photos...not sure what is needed for fob/charm authentication.

Thanks as always!
The style is 93079 and has been well faked but I believe the keychain in that listing is authentic.
