  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read

"Line" names like Carly, Madison, Ashley and dozens of others are usually almost uesless when comparing bags. Just because Coach sticks a Carly or Ashley label on a group of bags doesn't mean that they're all going to be similar or have the same details or even be made in the same year.

Carlys have been made in probably at least 3 dozen different styles, some of which don't look anything like the original Carly styles (which were first made in 2006).

The style name Ashley has been used for anywhere from 40 to 60 diffent style bags in all sizes, fabrics and price ranges. The only things they have in common is that they were all made for the Factory outlets.

The Madison name has been used off and on since the early 1990s, and there's NO connection or similarity whatsoever between those Madisons and the current ones, or even between many of the current "Madisons".

Even the name "Legacy" doesn't mean what some people assume it does, there have been a lot more "Legacy" branded styles that didn't have soft leathers and Legacy stripe linings like the line that came out in 2006 that so many people think of when they hear the name.

The ONLY time you can directly compare one bag to another is if they're both exactly the same style number and made in the same plant, month and year. Otherwise comparisons just aren't valid,

This is very informative. Thank you for taking the time to share this with me, us. I've learned a great deal from this forum. My first Coach was that Carly purse, :drool: at Macy's, back in 2006. I've got a few more, but I'm guessing, not to the extent that many collectors here own. :faint:

Hi newbie here,
I shop online mostly because I'm quadriplegic and homebound.I have done some research online,but since I'm uneducated about this brand and from what I've discovered this is Vintage I'd really appreciate all knowledge that I can get from this great group! Apon arrival I was both amazed(extreme quality leather and condition) and confused(because my Sister was doubtful due to knowledge of Vintage).
Here is all I have:

The bag in the listing looks okay but it's not even close to being vintage. I believe it's from (approximately) 2008 and vintage is considered to be 20+ years old.

In the future, please have potential purchases authenticated prior to buying because Poshmark and other sites are flooded with fakes and many of those sites are unresponsive to reports of those fakes.
