For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Hi, I can't read the serial number well enough. I don't have any information about style #5339 in my files. I don't see anything troubling but I can't absolutely say it is authentic without knowing the style.

That one (the posh mark one) is from the Metro line I believe. It does not sell well or at least didn’t. I bought a few back in my day for around $30 and they sold for a loss...

My guess on the other one (from eBay) would be from the same line. A Metro Map Bag. The one that measures 13” wide. It probably has the same pocket system.

They are a sturdy bag with nice wide straps. They just never sold well back in my day.

My best guess.

Both are authentic. This style, particularly older versions, had problems with the rivets. Neither seller shows the rivets clearly. Earlier versions had one rivet per strap attachment, often right in the center of the seam. This was a lousy place for the rivet and some failed. Later versions have either two rivets or one rivet set off-center.

It's an authentic basic bag. The color is burgundy. It appears to be in good condition since the color is still deep.

Thank you so much @whateve!
Those rivets are the question, aren't they? I had forgotten about that even though I look at my current shoulder sac all the time. I'll bother the sellers for photos to assess.

Hello, everyone. I bought a Coach wallet off eBay, I've only used it for a few month but it's already cracking. Did I buy a fake??
It's called Peyton Signature Slim Envelope Wallet.
Thanks in advance.

From what I see, there are no red flags.

I'd like to see the following pictures:
1. The zipper pull on both the wallet and the pouch
2. The made in tag
3. The back of the wallet
4. If the wallet was NWT, please post a picture of the tag.
5. There may also be a white tag (near the made in label) with 2 rows of numbers. Please show that too.

Please post a link to the listing and the seller ID as required per post 1, page 1.

Thank you! I was wondering because I googled the same model in the same color and their interior is emboseed leather or canvas?, I don't know which and mine is neither embossed or coated. And as you can see in the photo it's cracking or crumbling.

Both zippers are ykk.

As for the listing and the seller, I can't find either on eBay anymore. All I know is the seller is Chinese and the wallet was shipped from somewhere in US. I threw away the tag.
Between your original question, my request for more pictures and information and now that I'm replying, I did some searching around and from what I've seen, your wallet "appears" to be style 49154 and as far as I can tell, that style wallet is supposed to have saffiano (textured) leather on the interior.

With that said, I still can't conclusively determine authenticity without further information that I'd requested.

1. I'd like to see the zipper pull that's in the main wallet (not the pouch zipper pull which is what you showed).
2. I'm fairly sure there should be a tag inside either or both the wallet and/or the pouch that shows where it was made.
3. There may also be a white label with 2 rows of a mix of numbers and letters.
4. If you search your ebay purchase history and paypal history, you should be able to find the ID of the seller as well as the item number.

For your information, the YKK-branded zippers tell us nothing about authenticity. Coach uses multiple zipper brands and counterfeiters use fake or authentic zippers with YKK markings.

Depending on when you purchased the wallet, you may or may not be eligible for a dispute. If it's been over 30 days, you're too late for ebay but Paypal allows 180 days in which to open a dispute. But you would need to find the transaction to dispute and finding the transaction will help in the authentication.

Since it's a fairly recent item (if deemed authentic), you might be able to get help from Coach for a defective item. But again, authenticity has to be determined.

Hi. Is anyone available to let me know of this bag is a fake?

Check out the first post of this thread to give all the info the authenticators request!

Sorry. I wasn't able to get dimensions or a link. It was at a thrift store. I'm pretty sure it was fake!
Dimensions and a link aren't always necessary but the first post of the thread tells what we need for newer (2014-2016) bags with creeds that don't have serial numbers.

Thanks for your help, @Lake Effect!

By the way, does your wallet have an open pocket across the back? I can't tell from this picture whether it's just a seam or if it's a pocket:

Hi there - I'm new here! Just looking for some helpful information, hopefully. I had a listing removed from eBay today that was for a Coach Willis bag, a bag I have sold a few of over the years, and I've never had a fake bag. I've sold a lot of Coaches, owned a lot, etc. Sooo, the number on this bag is EC4-9927, and obviously the 9927 is right, but I saw in the beginning of this giant thread/forum that in one place, someone unequivocally says that the number is legit, and then somewhere else, someone says it's fake, and it has something to do with the factory and the numbers they use? More than anything, I just want to be sure I wasn't fooled by a really good fake. I can post the photo of the creed if need be, but it looks ok to me, made in US, everything where it should be, spacing ok.

Thanks for any input, sorry if this is the wrong place for such a question!

Welcome! This is the right place to address your concerns. Without seeing pictures of the bag, I can't tell you why it was removed. EC4-9927 is not a valid number unless the plant made a mistake. If the prefix was E4C or C4E, it could be valid under certain circumstances. If you post pictures, I can help.
Someone posted a similar question on ebay with the following pictures.

If that's the bag that was removed, the bag is fake and the removal was appropriate:

ETA: Here's a picture of another (different style) made in the same month/year/plant. Notice the differences in the font and creed text:

This case shows EXACTLY why pictures of the item and knowledge of creeds, text, fonts, factories, etc. are necessary and why just because a bag has a "correct" and "valid" serial number doesn't mean that the bag it's on is authentic.

It's also dangerous to self-authenticate unless you know exactly what to look for.

@chicamarie, you say you "have sold a few of over the years, and I've never had a fake bag. I've sold a lot of Coaches, owned a lot, etc." but clearly, you made a mistake on this one. It's possible there have been other mistakes that didn't get caught, either by ebay or by buyers.

For the health of your ebay account and for your reputation, you NEED to verify authenticity of your items BEFORE listing.
