Good evening. Please look over the Nubuc Ergo bag 4399 for authentication. Thanks so much.

COMMENT: From what I can find, it seems it's from a Sonoma series that was only made in 1997 in United States, and only just a little longer than the 4027 Ergo. My only Coach up until this year was a NuBuc Sonoma Fishing Creel that I knocked around Connecticut for 10 years and still looks like new even after many surface washes.

The creed picture is too dark for me to read it. The number font looks good so it might be okay.

Thanks whateve. I had even ran across a tan Nubuc 4399 and it has the same H7B-4399 registration number. The creed block is clearer, best for the NuBuc surface I'm afraid.

It's fine, the font is exactly the same as the genuine Ergo Mini Satchel Nubuc that Twintoo posted.

I'm not sure of the purse name. I bought it from an estate sale. Would appreciate help authenticating. Thank you

Item: Duffle 12
Listing number: n/a - see link
Seller: my21176
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Mini-Duffle-bag-5b84ae812e1478147963275b (and previously posted sale that didn't go through is here: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Duffle-bag-5b51f7b90cb5aa396e656b1d)

Comments: I bought this a bit impulsively due to the straps and thinking it was 1941. Now that I've received it, I'm confused. The creed says it's a Duffle 12 (B1880 32880) and though there appears to be a lot right with it, there are a few things I'm concerned about.
  • First, the seller bought it from the outlet apparently (which is perfectly fine), but the outlet tag is for a completely different bag. There is no other price tag.
  • The creed says "c 2017 Mattel All Rights Reserved" at the bottom. I don't understand the Mattel reference, I thought all the recent licensing ones were Disney.
  • The ends of the strap are longer and put together in a very sloppy way than other pics I found.
  • I could only find other examples of this bag in red (Ruby), so I'm not even sure they made it in black. I sent an email to Coach to ask, but they just advised the bag is no longer available.
  • The stitching seems sloppy, especially at each corner of the creed
It feels like there are a lot of the right parts, but not put together with the quality I'd expect for 1941. If it's genuine, I'm perfectly happy with it as it's such a cute size and perfect for traveling. But those items above have me scratching my head.

Since there aren't enough pics in the listing, I've added some below. Please let me know if more are needed. Thank you!

Coach did a line earlier in the year with Mattel toy characters BUT THERE AREN'T ANY MATTEL CHARACTERS ON THIS BAG! And the style number on the tag 38288 doesn't match the 32880 on the creed. The sloppy stitching is another huge problem, the creed is just one example. The tag is for a SIGNATURE satchel - where's the Sig fabric???

I don't even know if this one was genuine or not but here's an example of a bag with one of the Mattel characters - a bag with NO characters wouldn't need to have the Mattel copyright on the creed.

I think this one is called Dr Doodle?

There were apparently a lot of fakes of that Mattel line but most of them at least had the characters on the front. Search the Coach forums here for "mattel", here's just one discussion:

GET YOUR MONEY BACK. And I hope you don't have to find out from personal experience why we keep advising members to NOT BUY FROM POSHMARK because of their refusal to do the right thing about fakes.

Thank you so much, Hyacinth - you confirmed what I feared. Part of me was hoping maybe the outlet just put a tag on it because it was missing it, but I really can't imagine why they'd put a different style on the tag. But yes, the quality really just was not there, so I knew it. Drat.

I put in my dispute just now. Thankfully, I also paid with a credit card so I will go that route if need be. But the Mattel reference and the mismatching style numbers make it hard to refute the return request. I was just so enamored with the cute little bag and the strap - I still love the strap design - and had read the 1941 line may be going away and just let myself get carried away.

Thanks again for the confirmation!

Sorry, it's a VERY bad fake. The creed stamping is so blurred that it's unreadable, the style and hardware are not genuine Coach, the serial number font is much too large, and the style number 12988 in the serial number is often found in fakes. The fake serial number was mentioned in part 2 of the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List, still cached on Google. "B0973-12988 - belongs only to a small Op Art Crossbody but has been showing up recently (2014) in a wide variety of fake styles. Always have bags with this serial number authenticated at the Fashion Board. The genuine style 12988 should look like the photo below.":
https://web.archive.org/web/2016050...rial-Numbers-Part-2-/10000000179041909/g.html

The GENUINE style 12988 looks like this:

Unless you're an expert at telling real from fake, we DON'T recommend buying from estate or garage sales or any other place where you can't get a refund. It was illegal for them to sell it and would also be illegal if you try to sell it or trade it. Selling fakes violates US Federal law.

I will second Hyacinth's comment about not buying from Poshmark!

However I want to make a couple of comments, independent of what you decide to do with the bag.

1. If authentic, 32880 does seem to have been made in black. This listing on Japanese yahoo shows both black and red.
https://tw.bid.yahoo.com/item/空姐精品代購-COACH-32880-新款女士素面牛皮流蘇斜跨水-100471044077
2. If authentic, the creed shown on the Japanese website also shows a "Mattel" reference on the creed:
yahoo japan style 32880 creed Mattel copyright ref.jpg
3. The stitching on your bag's creed is considerably sloppier than the Japanese comp and the woven fabric on which it's placed is not cut properly along the grain:

4. "COACH" at the top of the creed is higher and closer to the edge than on the Japanese bag.
5. Side-by-side: Your POSHMARK fake on left. A comparison of the side-by-sides shows differences in the stamping, the weave of the fabric and the stitching.

I'm not sure what you mean by "there is no "Coach" logo on the bag except on the hang tag. Usually there always a Coach logo on the bag, even it's only small size." Not all bags have Coach "logos" on the bags. Many leather bags have nothing on the outside (except the hangtag) and many people remove the hang tags for any number of reasons.

But your bag has a creed and in this case, a serial number on the creed. The details of your bag are absolutely correct for THAT STYLE of bag. (Do a search of "Coach 30525" and compare. Note that all bags you find may not be authentic and several don't show the sellers' own pictures of the actual items but those that do use their own pictures look exactly like yours.)

As for your reference to "even it's only the small size," that refers to bags with or without creeds. What we've said is that Coach's smaller accessories (wallets, wristlets, swingpacks, pouches, etc.) may or may not have CREEDS and those with creeds may or may not have serial numbers.

The small size reference has nothing to do with logos.

And for the record, your bag has correctly marked "Coach" zipper pulls.

Remember that when comparing, you MUST compare apples to apples; comparing different styles is useless.

Again, your bag is authentic.

Thank you for your information and clarification, I'm sorry it's my bad and my poor knowledge of coach bags.
I only have few bags, and all of them have Coach logo on outside the bag, even my mini skinny id have this Coach logo, that's why I thought all coach bags, esp. that release in 2016 and afterwards, have Coach logo. I was wrong then.
Thank you again for your explanation and confirmation that it's authentic.

Please verify this is fake before I report. Thank you!

Comment: H9E-9027, made in United States. Coach logo and creed font spacing off?

Definitely fake, "E" is always Italy. And the Coach logo is really bad.

Thanks for confirming!
And it's gone already! I wish some of the fakes I've reported poofed that quickly.
