Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.

    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Not commenting on authenticity, but on the "only been carried twice" claim.

Some people are hard on bags, but the darkening of the leather on the handles looks to me like it was carried more than twice. Either that, or the person wore lots of hand lotion, on warm humid day, on a crowded commuter train, round trip from Kenosha to downtown Chicago...twice.

... while carrying a large Starbucks Frappuchino (extra ice) with condensation dripping down the outside.

Thank you so much! Oh no! I already have the bag in hand. Those are pictures I took of the actual bag. Amazon is bothersome like that-they just have one picture that all the sellers use. Not actual pictures of what you're getting. Can you tell in the pictures if this is authentic? I missed this bag in the last FOS. It's a MFF Christie. Thank you for your help.
The pictures you posted show an authentic bag.

My issue with sellers who don't show the actual item they have is that unless one does some digging, you have no way of knowing exactly what you'll receive.

There are many sellers who use pictures they find on the internet or on ebay of items they think are similar. Some of those sellers are unaware of fakes and switches and don't realize the importance of actual pictures while other sellers know exactly what they're peddling and as such, show a genuine "similar" style but they ship a fake.

But again, you did get the real deal.

I’d really like to get other opinions on this bag. Is it real? I’m leaning towards yes but the broken thread on the creed throws me on a bag “that’s only been carried twice” help??

Or maybe the seller is lying about how many times it was carried? And even on genuine Coaches, threads sometimes work loose or get snagged on something like a piece of jewelry. I see what looks like a scrape in the leather patch just above the torn thread.

It looks ok to me but wait for more opinions.

The bag is authentic but certainly not carried twice.

Is this the listing? The creed stitching appears to be the same. If so, I don't see where the seller described the use as "twice" and in fact, that listing shows corner wear and describes edgepaint issues and wear.

Looks like it, but the strap may have been swapped out.

It matches pretty closely the strap on another 9170 that I own, and is tapered at each end. Looks to be a good match for the age of the bag. Are you thinking it might be a replacement strap ordered from Coach, perhaps?

I’m genuinely curious why you think the strap might have been replaced. Not because I’m questioning the possibility, but I am trying to learn and like to understand what cues may tip off the expert authenticators that something may not be original.

I have two more questions about two different bags (thank you soooo much), I’ve learned a lot from this forum.

I’m posting a couple IMG_1520185824.487059.jpgIMG_1520185854.831095.jpgIMG_1520185885.150369.jpgpictures of two different bags. The black one was up on EBay and I lost to a higher bidder....but I love the looks of this bag and would like to try and find another. The creed was seven digits all numbers, so it is an earlier bag. If just really like to know it’s style and approximate age so that I can search for another.

The second picture is of the creed tag on a really cute light kelly green buckle bag I found on Etsy IMG_1520185675.058036.jpgIMG_1520185701.347270.jpgIMG_1520185722.355073.jpgIMG_1520185741.374681.jpg. Just wondering if it looks at all suspicious, I hadn’t heard of a factory code on a bag made in US being a D. Style number is 4164. Also, if you would please authenticate the green one?

There are a TON of "D" factory codes in US-made bags. I can't believe you haven't seen one yet. The 4164 is a Bedford Flap from 1997.

Please be sure to give measurements when the serial numbers are all numbers or when there isn't any serial number at all. The black one looks like a Chelsea Bag from the early 90s.

The strap didn't look tapered in the pictures. That is why I thought it had been replaced. When I said it was replaced, I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't made by Coach. I just thought it looked like the strap from a different Coach bag.

Nope, I hadn’t personally but I’m new at this. I knew A, B, and C were USA, but just hadn’t heard that F was.

I keep doing that, leaving off measurements. Next time I will do better, I’m sure it helps. The 4164 is 9.25” L X 8.5” T X 2.5” W. SD: 12-14”.

The one that looks like a Chelsea bag is 10”L X 8” T. SD: 16”, no depth was provided.

For the 9170, why does it look like strap may have been replaced?

Thank you!

Whateve already answered your question about the strap. If you want answers from other posters who don't remember the original post, please post the link back to the original post so we don't have to search thru 5 or 6 pages of posts trying to find it or figure out which one it is. Or use the Reply button on the original post to bring it to the current page.

It's a Chelsea Bag.

And the plant code in that green bag is D, not F - F is the month code.

Thank you so much! This is my first purchase from a non-authorized Coach dealer, and I'm relieved. I chose amazon since I love their return policy/protection, but next time I'll see if the seller can take pictures.

Oh, OK -got it. Whateve, when I’m on this site I’m usually on my cell phone rather than a computer. Sometimes responses are difficult to find in thread, and get lost. Also, sometimes responses go to my email, but not always. Can you tell me the best place to go in the app to easily see/find responses?

Ok. I hadn’t seen Whateve’s responses when I asked the second time. For some reason I’ve noticed that sometimes replies come to my gmail, but not always. When I log in to Purse Forum, I always do so on my cell, not pc. I get a bit lost in the thread and sometimes have a hard time finding responses. Whateve explained that it’s easier to post links via pc than phone, but I’m not usually near one. My apologies, yes I know that the plant code is D and not F, I mis-spoke. I got it right on my first post but not on the later one. Thank you, Hyacinth

no that isn’t the same listing. I can’t figure out how to share the link. Technology is not my strong point. Lol. But thank you so much for your reply. I bought the bag. Glad to hear it’s authentic! ❤️
