I see the storm coming.....I've been down this road with this darn style.....

I gave the gifter the benefit of the doubt and considered (or rather hoping) that the turnlock might have been replaced.

That's always a possibility but not likely, especially on an SLG. I've had to replace turnlocks on bags but never on an accessory.

It appears to be unused so I don't think the turnlock would need replacing. Here are some more pics, it is difficult to get good images of the inside, but I will try to get better shots if needed, thanks!

Sorry. I don't believe they made it without pillow ticking lining. Wait for @whateve to confirm.
I've never seen one without striped lining. Even fakes have it! It is also missing a zipper stop. I think it is safe to say it is fake.

I'm not Whateve, but I've never seen one without the ticking lining, and the black lining that seems to be in there looks like it's puffing up in places, it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in a Coach accessory. The photos also show bad stitching, and the Coach logo is really bad, the curved-in corners are barely there and actually seem to be missing on the two upper corners. The hangtag looks fake.

I only have a few pics of the 7171 Turnlock Case in my files, only one actually has a Coach stamp on the front and that one has a very bad hangtag although that doesn't prove anything. Both the catalog and real-life pics don't have a logo stamp except for the one with the bad hangtag.. They all have ticking lining.in the zippered compartment. We won't even talk about the "YKK" zipper (cough).

Here is a photo for your files. I think that most have the lozenge near the top under the flap which is why it isn't visible in the catalog picture.

Thanks! None of my few pics have a clear shot of that area but now that I know what to look for I can see it in one of the photos. So it looks like the ones with the stamp in the lower right corner are fake.

Thanks so much! I am sure that my friend thought it was genuine when she passed it on to me and I am glad that I've found out it was fake! Better to know than not.

PLEASE wait for more opinions because I REALLY hate authenticating wallets, especially newer ones. But I'm very concerned about what seems to be overly long stitches on the outside of the center stripe and also about the position and clarity of the Coach logo stamp on the inside.

ETA - I'm trying to find a similar style in crossgrain leather but the only comparable style so far is F48784 which isn't crossgrain. The overly long (to my taste anyway) stitches may be ok but the logo stamp on the inside still seems strange.

More opinions are welcome.

Thank you for your reply, I will stand by and wait for more replies.

Hello all, I bought this bag at a rummage sale for $14. It's in very good condition and I'm hoping it's a Coach convertible clutch. If so, am I correct that it was made in May 2000? Thanks

Hi all, I am thinking this bag is authentic but don't know for sure and need your verification.
I checked details against others and one here a few pages back. Liked that one so I went looking and found this.
It's a stunner for the price I paid even though factory, although bigger than I like and stitching a tad uneven and leather lightweight. It's nearly new. Came beautifully packaged wrapped with a ribbon in a large box, so seller is nice in that respect.
Thanks again for your time and assistance.
